Hey guys, I installed my Evolution on my LBZ last night, and today I finally tried out the level 2 and level 3. I noticed today that when I start it up or hit the trottle, I get some greyish looking smoke out the back, not the black Im used to! What gives with that? It has tons of power, but I was expecting it to belch out lots of black smoke. Ill try to get a better look at the color and make sure its not toally white, but from waht I saw today it looked greyish. Also, how safe is level 3 for a stock tranny?

Sounds like it's just the right amount of fueling. Not enough to make the thick sooty stuff, but just enough to show a little gray smoke. I don't see much smoke at all on level 2 and haven't tried level 3 yet. Hot and humid weather can bring out more smoke too and we don't have that here right now in MN.
My LBZ has had some haze out of the tailpipe while idling since new and completely stock.

YOu should be able to get a good charge of the black stuff on level 3. It only does it for a second until the turbo gets spooled up when stomping it from a stop or slow roll.

I think that level 3 is too much for the tranny. Level 2 is also too much for the tranny pulling a big trailer. I can't hold it to the rug very long on level 3 as the temps get too high. I need an exhaust.

Even with my exhaust the temps on 3 will get up there really quick.

What kind of EGT's are you seeing on 3 before you back out?

wtf for the second time, I have gotten an error 36 while trying to program level 3. I've gotten level 3 to program once, but the other two times I get this crap. after the error it says to unplug the unit and then it reprograms it back to stock. then you have to wait for it to save the stock files all over again. level one works fine though. any ideas? i updated the unti right before i sintalled it...

Well I called edge and they said the error is because the programmer didn't "have everything necessary to flash the pcm in order." I guess some of the files are corrupt or it gets interrupted. Level I and II work great on the other hand. Apparently a fix is on the way, but I was told to keep trying to flash level III becasue it will probably eventually work. I'm perfectly happy with level II and dont feel like buying a new tranny yet!

The latest version of level 3 is a lot better than the original the highest I have let it get on a fairly short burst is in the 1400 deg. range and this was only for a second.
Crazy I had this problem to I found that the truck liked being programmed after it had sat for a while after shutdown, it gave me this problem a couple times when I would shut the truck off and immediately try to program it, but if you give a few minutes after shutdown it always excepts it.

Excess timing can cause greyish smoke.

Same here! Level 2 is PLENTY of power for me. I normally drive on 1 and even at that level, I can see a difference over stock, but not much smoke. Level 2 & 3 produced smoke for me.
