the last truck pull i ran in, my friends were near the exit of the exhaust. they said that they could feel the soot chunks hitting them. it also was floating in their drinks. my question is how much build up would i need before i should be conserned about it. what i am thinking is the turbo. if theres a lot of build up and a good size chunk comes off, there goes the balance. whats the end result???

I have also thought the same thing, I would think soot would build up in all of the exhaust side of things, but then you think about the egts and it surely is burning right off of them??

I think the condensation in the exhaust/muffler is collecting the soot then when run hard it gets blown out.
We had a KW w/ 400 cat and bigger turbo and pump jacked up (one driver put panty hose over the pipes before starting it) and it blew all kinds of chunks out after a rain.

A little water will remove all carbon from internals but be carefully if you think you have a lot of build up - those chunks got to go somewhere. A spray bottle works great. Just spray water into intake manifold and have someone keep foot on throttle

Awe just throw a water/meth injection system on it. then you can clean your internals and get some extra power!!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

The water/meth injection will clean the internals and lower your Egts pulling too.
I can only imagine how clean my internals are after running water for over year now. Oil analysis hasn't been hurt by the water.

Any pics of water/meth setups?

Homemade system. Tested and built my own nozzles at my place of work. I have pressure vs. flow maps of my nozzles.
