I just got back from a trip to the Oregon coast - pretty big mountains going up that way. At Medford it was 107 degrees outside. I'm running 35" tires and pull about 10,000lbs loaded with 5th wheel. Tranny temps were awesome, never over 200. Engine temp had no problems getting to 220+ at times, usually down in 3rd gear and 4 or 5 minutes into a huge grade. Fan kicked in many times and cooled things off quick. Usually the engine would run between 190-205 degrees, but any bit of grade and it's up quick.

No problem here either running temp 210 and tranny 180.

I tow a 10000 # 5th wheel, (2004 LB7 ) and eng temps will go to 235 on a steep hill in high outside temps. (PHX, 108 degrees).
It appears that some truck's eng temps will go to 235, and others will stay around 200-210.
Any thoughts on why ? I tow with tow-haul on, and o/d off.
