Anyone have this setup with a 4.5" backspacing on they're truck? I'm running into issues with the tire rubbing the fender when I turn the wheel past 3/4 turn. This is just when its sitting on the garage floor not moving at all....So my main concern is when I'm driving and get into a dip or anything similar to that it grabbing the fender. I'm going to post some pics to show what I'm describing.

This was after I installed the Cognito Leveling kit.....I was under the impression this setup will work. I own the wheels now so I can't do anything about that, my only option would be to downsize the tire size and we all know I don't want to do that either as we seem to want the biggest tire we can fit under the truck. The bars are cranked as far as they can be and still have any similar to factory ride. Thanks for any help

Mine is rubbing on the back of the fender...

On the back of the fender or the fender well liner?

I run an 8" rim with 4" BS and 285 tires and had to trim my fenderliner a bit but no cranking of the bars. I also had to strap the liner back in some places and trim the tips of my air dam off. Again, I haven't cranked my torsion bars any though.

Surely you can get yours to work out ok with more BS than mine and just a tad wider tire. But it may require some strapping and/or trimming.

Good luck. I'm impatiently waiting for pics because it sounds like its gonna look sweet w/ MM951s and 295s! :ro)

Well got them to fit with some minor trimming on the front valance and still working on the rear as there's still some slight rubbing. I think I'll get it done before the nights over though.

Well they are rated at 3195lbs@65psi I honestly couldn't tell you as I just put them on today and haven't hauled the boat. Sorry I guess I'll be letting you know next spring. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be looking into the Fredrico Swaybar setup as long as it'll work on the dual exhaust setup.

I will be putting the same 295/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers on my truck this weekend. Going on a 17x8.5 with 5.14 backspacing on the wheel. I have 16" 285/75 on the truck now and trimmed a little for them. They are only like 31.7 inches tall for some reason so the new ones will be close to 1 1/2" taller. Really been looking at all the trucks running this size to see what problems they have had. I really don't want any rubbing at all.

Only difference I can see is I have a 17x9 rim and you'll have that 1/2 inch that might help you. Mine rub very minor on the rear of the wheel well on the liner. Only at full turn. But I do have my bars cranked up....

I've been reading through some of these threads trying to decide on a tire/wheel package...

2006 GMC 2500HD 4x4 LT3

Just got a key lift 2.5" or so. Looking at 285/70-17 Nitto Grappler on Raceline Renegade 898's with 4.5" BS.

any suggestions? would like to put the largest tire possible with this setup.

thnx

I have no body lift. The space you see is the filler molding on a GMC. I have the Cognito Leveling kit and my bars are cranked up 10 turns. There is minor rubbing on the rear of the fender liner, but I'm still working on this. When I'm done I feel there will be no rubbing and I have not sacrificed any ride from factory. Actually feels like it rides better of course I did get rid of those junk shocks. I actually had one come apart on me when I was taking it off why can't GM use quality shocks on these trucks.

with 285's you should have no rubbing issues but keep in mind I cranked my bars 10 turns almost 2.5 inches. With stock A arms some will say you aren't going to have issues, but I'd disagree...Which is why I bought the Leveling Kit and shocks.

i run 17x9's, but they have 6" backspacing which makes a huge differece helping out with tire rub
