This spring, I'm going to be towing a 10k gooseneck on a 5,000 mile trip with my 2500HD. I've read a ton of posts about using air bags with 2500s.... but I don't think, air bags will be necessary with only a 10k trailer.

Opinions?

Are you going to be towing often or just this one time. I just put airlift airbags on my truck but I own a small landscaping business and haul a variety of loads. If you won't be towing or hauling heavy loads often then I think you will be fine with the stock suspension. 10k isn't that much weight.

It's a once a year trip.

My TT is only 7k. I have bags and use them. My TT will will set the rear down almost 3". The bags bring me back to level.

I've got a set of ride-rites sitting in my mom's garage back in CA (if she didn't throw them away :() that I plan on putting on soon. The *** end on my truck drops a good 2" when I hook up the 16' box trailer, and it's not that heavy. I figure its because the lift 'levels' the truck out, and the rear suspension is designed to sag under load. In any case, I'll run bags until I can get 8" lift springs for the rear and give it the high *** end HD look.

you might want to look into timbren load boosters. Airbags will be a pain it the arse because you need to maintain at least 5psi at all times. They recommend checking the pressure weekly. You could do an onboard compressor setup, which is what I opted for, but that's a lot of extra money.

if u are at stock hieght i wouldnt worry about getting airbags. i just put some in becuase i leveled my front end out and when i tow my backend sags and i wanted to get rid of that, which the air bags did.
