I believe the headache rack is a Ranch Hand. I built the rails myself out 1 1/2inch square tubing.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Can't tell about the front and rear bumpers as they were on the truck when I bought it. And they don't have any identifying decals. They might be Ranch Hand as well or possible "Gauge" ? or Brown Welding out of New Braunsfels TX? They all build some that are very similar.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

The front bumper looks like a Tough Country.

it hasn't been in offroad yet, i want to wait until i am "done" with it... the "prerunner" scene here in socal is huge, every other truck you see is a ranger with white fenders!!! but most of the people jumping in on the prerunner band wagon haven't even been to a dezert race.

Wow, three Rosa's Cafes in Midland and I've never heard of them. Guess I've been gone too long. La Bodega and Jumburrito were my favorites. I'll have to ask the parents about Rosa's and maybe stop in next time.

it is actually still 4wd, it has 15" of wheel travel and no drop down brackets. in order to keep the angle of the ttb's correct you have to pie cut the beams.

the term "prerunner" is now being used to describe a style of truck, usually it will have fiberglass fenders, a front bumper with lights and a spare tire mounted in the bed of the truck.

but a real prerunner is a truck or buggy used to "prerun" the race course before a race to get familiar with the terrain. to "prerun" in a race vehicle it costs far to much money and you run the chance of breaking it before the race. prerunners are now being built identical to race vehicle with all the creature comforts of a regular car. hope this helps...

HBruns
09-02-2004, 09:49 PM
Thanks all! I do like the bowtie http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

How do they do it? Line-X is sprayed on hot and sets up hard within 5 seconds. First they spray the bed, then put the template in place and build up some more product in the desired shape. It does not have time to sag or run before it sets up. The Line-X shop owner is also a fireman, and he does a fair number of City Of Austin Firefighter shields.

Akdiesel, the other item is a black bungee cord with black hooks.

Here's another image of the truck bed. The bowtie is shadowed, though you can make it out if you look.

wsucowboy,

Hows it goin? Yeah, I'm a soph, live in the dorms, Coman. I saw your rig last year, you would go up to the turn around by the CUB and drop someone off. There are several other dmax's in town, an arrival blue CC on 285's and a graphite CC stock. You headin' over to the coast for the game? What kind of HID's you running and how much? I've had my truck for about 9 months now so its time to start hangin some accessories on it.

Bob

wsucowboy
09-10-2004, 01:44 AM
right on, I lived in Scott my freshman yr., dropped my fiance off up there and I have seen the blue D/A with the headache rack around, but havent seen you or the graphite one around. Not goin over for the game though we are headin down to pendleton to see brad paisley and go to the fair. are you goin to the game?

the HID's I have are made by Vision (8000k) and they wuld run you about $500 depending on where ya got em. If ya ever need anything for your truck or have any questions let me know, I work at an Off-Road shop back home and have done all the work on my truck myself. I can get ya a pretty good deal if you are interested.

Also if you are lookin for a forum thats closer to this area check out www.NWBombers.com (http://www.NWBombers.com) its mainly a dodge site but there are a couple of us Dmax's out there, and the dodge guys are pretty nice (after they rib ya a bit for havin 8 cylinders instead of 6)http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

BlueOx03,
looks really cool your painted truck. How did you get the cromed bumper and grille parts painted, was it difficult? Did you buy the mirror complete or the cover aftermarket?
The GMC dealership told me the painted plastic cover for the mirror is only available aftermarket otherwise I have to change the complete mirror.

There may be a more simple way, but before I purchased adobe photoshop this is what I did.

Open the picture with windows picture veiwer, highlight the pictures you want (not double click) then on the left side there should be an option to "Email selected item". Just Email it to yourself it gives you the option to resize. Then go to Email and save to desktop.....Walla!!!!

I hope that works for you GOOD LUCK Edited by: max camper

Or you could change the quality setting in your camera (reduce it) and shoot a new picture.

Hope to see you on the road someday, cold ones on me! Do the DP members ever have rallies or get-togethers? If not maybe not a bad idea! Would be nice to put faces to the names. JJ http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

good observation, it didnt take me long to start kicking myself in the a$$ after cuttin the pipe too short when welding on the tip. luckily the system its self is still clamped so i can move the last section out some to get the tip out another 3-5in. lazyness has prevailed so far. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Motohead,

Here are some photos from superbuytires.com. I didn't buy mine from them but they have an easily accessible website to compare prices and such. We opted for the AR Wolverines due to price. With the almost 50k duramax, the added expense of the wheels and tires were a killer. I originally was going to buy Foose Spank 8 wheels (8 for 8 lug) but saw the American Racing wheels and thought they looked good enough. The AR wheels are about have the cost of the Foose wheels. Guess we have to pay good ole' Chip for his design talents( LoL!). Anyway, here are photos of both the Wolverine and the Spank. I am really happy with the AR wheels and don't regret the purchase one bit. It looks like the Foose Spanks are $399 a wheel at Superbuy and the AR Wolverines aren't listed but I think they would be around $200 each in 18's. I know I didn't pay much more than $399 ea for my 22's. Good luck with whichever choice you go with!

What center caps are you using? It looks like you have the
standard (not chromed) H2's and are using your chrome chevy center
caps. . . if so, could you post another shot with more of the wheel in

Thanks,

Hey Dennis:

Yep - standard 17x8.5 H2 take-offs. One can run the OEM chebbie or GMC
aluminum wheel center caps as is (that's what I'm using). If the truck
were OEM equipped with the standard steel or chrome-clad wheels, you
COULD use those caps but they would require trimming because the
outside diameter on those caps is slightly larger than the aluminum
wheel center caps, thus they won't fit into the H2 wheel cap recess
without modification.

Here's a closer view:

Thanks for the compliments. Over a week ago a nice 12 point buck took out my front end. I was sick, but I got it back together just in time for the KYDTR event, and won best chevy. I had the bow tie painted to break up the chrome in the front. Small subtle thing, but made a big difference to me. I just need a chrome or stainless bug shield, and I wish they made actual rocker panels for a dually that looked great when installed. More to come, but it takes time. Stacks are next.

The bumpers I used are " Trail Ready " units both front and back. We did the tubular light bar set up on the front Trail Ready bumper. They are manufactured very well, I was very happy with the fit and finish on these bumpers.

baimpala is correct, it did stand for Martin Barkey Racing Products, when we incorporated we shortened it to just MBRPinc.

New to the board, so figured I'd share the new truck. Shown as it was when I drove it home from the dealer on 10/28. Wish it was a Dmax, but I needed something quick after my old truck decided to crap out on me. Pushing 900 miles and I LOVE it!

I like the tandom tow approach. Slick. I believe some states don't allow it unless you have the proper license. Some states don't allow it regardless of the license you have. I know NJ doesn't, and I'm almost positive PA doesn't either.

gearhead yes I do.

9W3-HD yes torsion bars are factory, and I had them put 4" blocks in back instead of 2.5" that come from Rancho. Gives it a little more pitch to the front.

1SAST, you will love how it rides, much better IMO than stock. I would suggest the Rancho adjustable shocks over the ones that come with kit. They were to stiff for my liking
