I was filling up last night and reached for my Stanadyne additive like I always do. When I tipped the bottle down the filler neck, I saw the cardboard cap seal sticking to the mouth of the bottle. Before I knew it, the additive swept the seal into the tank. I can't believe it! I've been running additive in diesel fuel for years and have never thought of this happening!
I'm going to get my manuals out tonight to check if there is a screen prior to the tank. In the meantime, I had a few questions for those that might know...
- Is there a screen prior to the tank that I may be able to use a pick up tool to get the seal?
- Is the fuel pick-up in the tank small enough where the seal could clog it and stall the engine?
- I'm double filtering with the CAT 2 micron so I feel that if the seal broke down and dissolved, I would catch the fibers prior to entering the pump.
- If I have to drop the tank, I will. I'm searching for viable solutions. Thanks in advance for the help!
