Changed the oil in the truck for the first time. I'd like to meet the brute that torqued the filter on that thing. I was sure that I was going to break my filter wrench before that thing came loose.

Looks like i need a larger drain pan, it was right to the top. And maybe one of those Fumoto valves to help keep oil out of the skid plate. That isn't a well planned design there.

My filter was also very tight, I had to get a larger filter tool.

My filter was not that bad.

However, the drain bolt was very tight. Tried a 3/8 socket wrench and it did not move. Got a longer 1/2 socket wrench, still no movement. Finally got a rubber mallet and tapped the 1/2 inch and finally it came lose. It obviously was over torqued at the factory or somewhere.

Just did my first oil change today. I was praying that my oil filter wouldn't give me a problem. I made sure that I had a strap wrench before I attempted to remove it. NO PROBLEMS for me. It came right off. I was thinking maybe it was better to get it loose before the engine got hot. I gave it a couple of turns while it was still cold. Then I started the engine and let it get pretty warm, about 180 degrees before I removed my oil drain plug. Then I removed the filter with no effort at all. I placed a thin plastic tray so the oil wouldn't flow onto other parts of the frame work. I installed my new Fumoto valve which looks great. I also did my rear gear. I used AMSOIL for all my oils and filter too. When I checked my rear dif. it was only 1 inch below the top of the fill hole, not bad from all the horror stories we come across at times.
