A subject that has been covered on this forum for years I am sure & I know there are thread after thread about this but I havent been on this site for a long time & not all situations are the same.
I have an 05 LLY 3500 DRW 2WD which I use to hotshot. I pull a 40 ft flat gooseneck generally thru the southern U.S. However, this year I have extended my licence to run the entire lower 48 states. I am also licenced to 35,000 LB GCVWR (truck, trailer & freight). Within a couple of months I want to install a chip or whatever to increase the HP & Tourqe to max performance with out over doing it. I currently have 129,000 miles on the truck.
Give me YOUR opinon on this senerio. Brands, Type, Pro's, Con's, Price, Fuel is a big big factor in my decission to install this system. Just give me you input as little or as much as you wish. Thanks, TC :)

Tranny upgrades would be good first.

As for chips a lot of guys are running EFI live, Edge/***, Predator or a Boost Stick

I'm going to be changing from the Edge to EFI Live shortly but I did like the Edge to begin with, just want more now and the ability to adjust everything on EFI Live is great for me.

Talk to Rick D'lance or sideswiper...they're both guys that tow a ton and have tried their fair share of tuners, had their fair share of problems, and found their fair share of solutions. As far as towing experience, not many have them beat in the dmax. Im sure there are other guys on here that have towed the snot out of their trucks, but those two are guys that pop into mind.

If you want a safe load it and forget it tune, try the Hypertech Power Programmer III. (Around $300-$330) This programmer seems to be the "safest" programmer to run witout overstressing the truck, but would be a good idea to install guages (pyro at a minimum). They also have the HyperPac version which is the same programming, but with a dash mounted guage unit that can read and clear DTC's, Watch EGT and Boost readings, and so forth. (Around $650-$700)

Diablosport Predator tuner would be a good option too. It is capable of reading and clearing DTC's, monitoring your injector balance rates, has a very capable 45hp tow tune, and has three other higher tunes available if you choose. (Around $300)

If you want something that is adjustable on the fly, try Edge Juice w/Attitude on level 2 or below, it has Built in safety features for trans slip, pryo temperature, overboost etc...You could also try the Bully Dog Triple Dog with Outlook monitor, I have had good success as of late with MPG's and this tuner. It has very similar features to the Edge, but is a flash programmer, not a piggy back module, and the guage unit is stand alone, so it does not have to have the programmer to work. Plus this programmer can most likely be re-used in the next truck you buy with a free internet update (Both units cost around $700)

At any rate, whatever tuner you choose to run, it would be wise to install guages of some sort and probably a good 4" turbo back exhaust to cool the EGT's. Just my opinion,

I went with the "Hypertech", it works great and when you need dealer service it is easy to re-program back to stock so they won't know.
