Where is a good place to find an exhaust system? It seems like they are hard to find for a diesel.

I didn't see any exhaust systems that will fit my 6.2 there. I have been surfing the web though. All i could find that will fit mine is a banks dynaflow stinger exhaust system. Anyone know anything about them?

You only place that you can get the double wall exhaust and tail pipe is from a GM dealer. The original factory parts are not cheap. The ususal muffler shops only sell the single wall thickness.

What if i put together an exhaust myself using 3" pipe and muffler. Does the 6.2 need a certain amount of back pressure? Eric

for tube look for scrap system from upgrade, say somebody going from 3" to 4" or 5", many muffler shops have complete stainless system like off a Power Stroke in the trash pile, free for the asking.

dual 2.5" would be your best bet, dual 3" would be a little overkill but work fine. less backpressure the better, vacuum would be best.

3" isn't too large! Heck, I've got a 4" single system on mine! :D


I built my exhaust system myself. Found a local heavy truck shop that carries all kinds of exhaust components in 3" and larger. Picked out all the tubing, elbows, and hangers, and welded it up! Was actually pretty simple.


The bigger the better on these diesels...no backpressure needed.

Has anyone put straight pipe and no muffler on? It probably would sound deep & throaty since it has 379 cubic inches. Plus it wouldn't need emisions so it would be legal for inspection.

Straight pipe on a NA 6.2 would be LOUD go straight with full flow mufflers to knock it back some, or install a turbo which really lowers the noise
