Wait until get adds another 125hp. You will be neck and neck once again.

You should run close if you have the LLY 310/590, but if you have a completely stock LB7 300/520 and you run neck an neck, then something is wrong with his truck.

And if you didn't beat him by at least 10 trucks in the 1/4 something would be wrong with your truck.

Seeing that you have the 125 hp juice, (Attitude?) you must have the LB7, if that is the case, you should beat him by 10 truck lengths in a 0-60 run, and 20-25 or more in the 1/4 mile.

Good kill none the less!

we raced only about 1/8 mile ,so the 1/4 would have been worse. and 0-60 was bad also . when we raced stock i took mine out of 4 wheel drive to turn around . i forgot to go back to 4 wheel and was in 2 wheel . we held them up on the brake and i spun the tires , he got out on me a truck length , i held the same distance the whole way , he never pulled ahead and i never gained , so with this in mind he did beat me to where we let off which i do not care about . i knew since we were the same distance apart that i would say dead even . if i was in 4 wheel and did not spin we would have been side by side

Actually if you were in 4 wheel drive you might have been dead even at the start but most likely the extra drag would have had him pulling away from you.

Not a Fair test.... did you check to see if the sicksliter was making its own oil yet?

Was it even running on all 8 cylinders?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif

From the latest edition of Motor Trend, the Ford 6.0L beat out the 310hp 590tq Duramax both empty and pulling an 8500lb trailer. The Dodge 600tq was second. I didn't want to believe this either. On this LLY they tested, they said one of the reasons it lost was because of the clutch fan engaging and pulling alot of power away, it just didn't want to go after 50mph. They ran a 16.7 1/4 mile empty. The slowest an LB7 ran (from both Motor Trend and Car & Driver) was 16.3. Remember, these times posted by these magazines are corrected for sea level and pressure, so they should be consistent. The Duramax is rated 310hp and 605tq for 2005.

Put the same 125 hp chip on the Ford and it will prolly outrun an LLY from what i have seen at least on the big end .

Looking at the comparison again, I see that the Duramax DID pass the Dodge empty just past 70mph, although it couldn't catch the Ford. It looks like once the LLY got rolling empty, it pulled as strong as the others in the 1/4 race. I THINK they test these diesels from idle, no spool up. I've read some posts that say that the turbo lag is pretty severe in the LLY. This may explain these results. Again, it couldn't match the others when hitched to a trailer. Still hard to believe.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Those tests are the biggest load of BS ever.....I remember the last one that came out...I beleive in 2003....the cummins was way behind in all categories.....because the cummins was a six speed and the chevy and the ford where automatics. Those people have no idea about diesel trucks...I could care less what they have to say. The big three are equals stock...that simple.

My LLY stock runs 16.3 in the 1/4, in 2 wheel drive.

One set of test numbers do not equate to long term durability.

Cummins is the Best motor for longevity PERIOD IMHO.

But when considering the overall package at time of purchase, The DMX/Allison won out.

Fords total package is a bit unproven.

What rear ends were being used?
Also, I would speculate the GM truck is heavier.
Also, the tests may not be done objectively. Who knows when big money is talking.

I HAVE A 2003 DURAMAX WITH 37 INCH TIRES AND A SIX INCH LIFT, I RAN A 14.5 IN THE QUARTER. ALL I HAVE IS A PREDATOR PROGRAMMER, AFE AIR INTAKE AND A 4 INCH EXHAUST. A 6.0 FORD AND A DODGE DOES NOT WANT NONE!!!

I don't remember what the rearend ratio's were. The book is at home. I do remember that the Ford was the heaviest at 7300, the Dodge was second at 7000 and the GM was 6700-this was curb weight.

I take it the predator is set on the 120hp level? 14.5 is VERY good for your setup.

How were you launching Big Dawg. I'm running the same setup except with 33" tires and only ran a 14.7.

Is this the same MT article that said the ford 6.0 was the quietest diesel out of the 3 as wellhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Kingd knows what he is talkin about, a good running 6.0L with no issues runs well, add the 100 hp, or the secret program in there and you have your self one hell of a rocket! a juiced (125) dmax vs a juiced 6.0L, The 6.0L usuually wins unless the 6.0L losses an injector or has some coolant issues!

hdmax

Something else to ponder, the Powerstroke 6.0L diesel can handle a lot more power without killing the transmission. We are pretty much limited to 120-130 added horsies over stock on the LB7 before a tranny upgrade is needed, while the 6.0L Powerstroke can handle at least 160-180 extra big ponies.

Maybe the Torqueshift is granading inside without anyone knowing it, where as the Allison has a limp home safe mode. But what ever it is, right now the Fords with a stock tranny will whoop up on our trucks with a stock tranny. And at a tune of their 12`s to our high 13`s. And 1 second in a 1/4 mile race is a real spankin'http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif (Close to 120 feet)

Hdmax, their tranny's are still pretty bad! Our weak point with the dmax is the 4 to 5 up shift, the fords weak point is the 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, but there 4 to 5 seems to be pretty good! The ford has a pretty sh*tty shift solonoid(spelling) setup, they seem to fail everyonce in awhile! I think the allison and the torqueshift are pretty much in the same boat as far as holding power goes.

with tranny's aside the d-max if far supierior to the powerstroke in the motor dept. maybe if ford will get their head out of the sand and put some common rail fuel injection on their deisel I might be singin a different tune!!! all in all I think the d-max will surpass the competition given the same amount of time on the market. In three years look how far the d-max has come compared to the cummins 14 year service record in trucks, and the powerstroke since the mid 90's. I think that in another three years the d-max will be the undisputed champ in the diesel world!!! just my .02 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Ford is one of Motor Trend's biggest investors........And we all know what the world revolves around. The F-150 was crowned as Motor Trend truck of the year but really dont you think it would be a matter of personal preferance. Not everyone test driving all brands would choose the same.

GM has went from owning just over 1% of the pickup diesel market to over 30% with the Duramax. Talk about a change of pace.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Motor Trend are a bunch of Yahoos. I don't regard anything they say as factual. As posted earlier, MT has other things on the agenda.
