Hello, I just bought a 91 silverado extended cab 1500, 4x4, 6.2 diesel, th700r4 trans. I just had some questions and if anyone wants to throw in some tips that would be appreciated too. Thanks in advance. Eric http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

1) can i put carburator cleaner or bg 44k in it to clean out the carbon? I use 44k on gas engines and it takes out the carbon nicely.

2) Is this a good motor and transmission combination?

3) You see people with diesels letting them run for a while in idle instead of shutting them off. Is this a good thing to do?

I would only use fuel conditioner designed for diesels, there are several good ones. I am not familiar with 44k though.

Yes, but not a really strong combination for towing.

This is usually done to let the turbo cool down to avoid coking of the oil. It's not really necessary unless the truck has been run hard prior to the shutdown, IMO.
