Yesterday I received my 4" MBRP single exhaust and predator programmer. I installed the 4" exhaust. I already have the hypertech installed so I decided to have a little test. I drove the truck hard on its highest setting (90HP).


It responded ok. It took off well and excellerated good. Then I took it out and installed the predator. I set it on it's 3rd level (86hp) and it felt more responsive all around low-end and high-end. What really grabbed me is the smoke that was billowing out. I Loved it. The only downfall with the predator is it is not as user friendly as the hypertech. I have 285/75/R16 whichis 32.9" for the particular tire. Hypertech allows movement in 1/4" increments on tire size in inches. I set it at 32.75". The predator asked adout wheel size (16") aspect ratio and tire width.


The last comparison between the two was being able to reset the speed limiter to 125 (highest) and the hypertech you cannot reset the speed limiter at all.


The 4" exhaust worked extremely well. It is almost too noisy for me, but the reward (more power,speed,etc.) outweighs the loudness in my book.

Yes. It only smokes when you gun it. And it really smokes if you gun it from a stand still. The 4" exhaust might help it. I haven't tried the 120hp level and probably won't. I do not have the suncoast tranny upgrade.

I said that the Predator would run rings around the Hypertech. (And believe me, it isn't just seat of the pants feel. It is real) The one thing I like about the Predator is how much power it seems to have down low, that is why it smokes so much. (Other then live monitoring)

what is the price difference between the 2 ??

I have seen the Predator on Ebay from $300 and up.

What about adding the Bully Dog Pup in for comparison? Then what is the best? I have always been curious, never been able to run a Predator with the vin lock and all so I have stuck with Bully Dog. Just asking for comparison of this one vs. Predator too... Thanks

The Predator tunes are surprisingly stout in the later versions. They'll run with any tuner with comparable ratings. Not sure about the 120 though as mine has issues...





If you want to tune your tire size with the Predator, try using a 290/75/16 or something like that. It lets you fudge things pretty good if memory serves.

1.11 resolved the overboost codes and surging problems that I was having. '04 LB7 with Ca. emissions.

I've almost gotten used to the surging but have never had it throw any codes.

On second look on a brighter day doing a couple of 0-60 runs, the Predator 120 definitely smokes significantly at high throttle...

edge will make a lot more power, proved during recent dyno day in Ontario CA. smokes less however.

From the seat of the pants, my predator 120 runs a lot stronger that my juice/attitude level 5(125). It also smokes A LOT more. I have yet to dyno the predator but my juice only put down 360 and arond 650ish torque. That was at the last dyno day here in CT. Im waiting for the next to run the predator.
