Started for the day. Temp was about 45 degrees. Let truck idle about 5 minutes before going. Went to move and notice no power steering, then no brakes when I said ot myself WTF. Any ideas?

The Power Steering pump also provides power to the brakes.

When the pump goes out so do the brakes.

Took it to the dealer. They said something about a vacuum control unit ot something like that/ Hopefully something that simple. Only have 9200 miles on it now.

Was the Flow Control Valve. Replaced the spring and oring.

I had the same problem with my 2006 LT. Dealer replaced the power steering pump under warrantee. The old one would fail after the truck sat overnight. I keep the beast in an unheated garage. Temperature did not make any difference.

I found (though other threads in this forum) a quick fix was to slowly rev the engine over 2000 rpm. This seemed to free the stuck valve. I had no problems for the rest of the day. The pump failed 3 times before I could get into the dealer.

All warranty I'd assume?

I have the exact same prob, the dealer said I needed a new hydro pump.will keep you posted on the fix when I get it back on Friday.

Might be off the subject but did any one with the same prob have any issues with noise coming from the hydro pump when ever you turn the steering to the left? My truck made this noise from day one, took it back right after I bought it and they said it was normal noise.

its is always the flow control valve. usually just change the pump because its easier and pays better!!

Hay Redws6rocket is the flow cont valve located inside the pump? just wondering why they opted to change out the pump not just the valve.
