Hi, my truck has been haveing problems lately. I think it may have came to the end of the road. Anyways, I started to blow the fuse for the ECM. It will let me go maybe .5 mile beofre it blows again. Can I expect this to be an ECM on the way out, or maybe a short. Its a 98 .5 ton w/ 106000 miles. Its going to the shop in a few days if I cannot figure it out. Any ideas?

sounds like a wire shorted to ground somewhere. I dont' know if a ECM can have a fault internally that will cause it to draw too much current and blow the fuse and still be able function.

Thanks for the information, I will have to do a little digging and see what I can find. So you haven't had any experience with a ECM going out like this? But like you said, the ecm worked after i replaced the fuse. Were on the internet can I get a wiring diagram? My manual is back at home.

It would seem that ECM wires coming out of the firewall from the glvebox are tend to chaff and short out to the passengerside of the firewall behind turbo.
This could explain blowing the fuse but not right away.

ECM fuse, 20 A, seems to be pnk/blk wire on connector A1 of ECM; fuse hot in run or start.
