flipping the overload might not be very effective to support a load beacause it will be so far from the pack, so i plan on adding a 3/8" plate between the pack and the overload, making it about 8" long and tapering the ends so it doesnt create a stress riser, meanwhile putting a longer pin through the pack to locate the axle.

my goal is to raise the rear a little and get rid of the shutter/gallup(sp?) by keeping the overload off of the other springs while not hauling anything.

can anyone think of any downsides?

Do you have the bolt length to do this? Make certain that you have at least 3 FULL threads on sticking out on those u-bolts. If not, new u-bolts are in order for you. Should be able to find them at any frame and spring shop.

Do you plan to tow? If not, or very light, flip the bar. You have to put ~500 lbs onto the back hitch to make them touch.

Whatever you do, good luck...
