Today's the second day in a row my lb7 didn't start. I didnt leave my dome light on, or have any electricals plugged in. I'm thinking that my battery is just toast, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?
What's with the 2 batteries? I was told 1 id for starting, and 1 is for electrical,is that true? I'm thinking to just leave my truck on all night and hope it starts again in 24 hours. What do you guys think?

twice now I've had one of my batteries have a dead short. which pulls down the other one also, and had to replace them both, each time they lasted two years. Now I have dry cell batteries, so far so good. Jim
Replace both at the same time, otherwise the older of the two will make the new one work harder and deteriorate faster.

I let my truck sit for about 6 hours, checked the Dc volts, both pulsed at 12.4 volts. Tried to start it up and it fired up no problem, battery said 14 volts on my guage cluster. Now I'm really confused wtf is going on. I guess I'll try again in 16 hours if it'll start.

The glow plugs takes a lot of juice to warm up and the compression ratio is above 16:1 and that takes a lot of energy too. So that is why there is two batteries...

I have heard lots of issues with the AC Delco batteries as well as other after market batteries.
I still have the same factory batteries when I bought my truck back January of '02. No issues with them what so ever.
I do not have any extra electrical power such as an after market radio or amps to draw down the power of the batteries or even the alteranator.
Could the reason for these bad batteries be because of the extra electrical items some of us have and it is drawing to much power fromt the batteries and then shutting down the truck before the batteries are fully charged from the alternator.
I know the electrical gauge reads 14 amps, but isnt that at the alternator and not the batteries?
If this is the case than it sounds like there is more blame on the batteries than on the owner/alternator for not recharging long enough.

its like as if my batteries needed to be recharged or something. I let it sit for 24hours and it was pulsing at 11volts DC. Starts everytime in -20 weather without being plugged in now. I'm confused as hell why it just died like that but works now

The batteries are wired in parallel and both are used as others have said because of the high current draw for the glow plugs and starting a high compression engine. Replace them both at once, because the old battery will end up discharging the new.

The guage reads 14 volts, not amps, and the voltage throughout the system is the same. If you are seeing 14 volts at the alternator, then the entire electrical system is seeing 14 volts.
