A friend of mine told me about www.filter1.com

You can oder Wix filters on line and save lots of money. If you order 6 or more they ship them for free.

Go to www.filter1.com and sign up. They will email you a customer number. You can then set up a quick order form to order filters at a significant savings.

I bought a Wix fuel filter locally for 27.00 plus tax (total over $29.00) at NAPA and can order it for 17.25 on line. Here are the cost for various Wix filters from the filter1.com website. Order at least 6 filters to get the free shipping! Does not have to be 6 of the same kind to get the discount, just oder a total of 6.

Filter Wix part # Cost
Fuel filter 33810 $17.25
Oil filter 57202 $5.16
Tranny filter 57701 $7.57
Air filter 46678 $12.94

I'm not pushing Wix filters. I just want to let you know that there is a very competitive option for purchasing these filters if you want to use them.

The only bad thing is that my friend bought a 2003 F350. He said it has been in the shop many times and told Ford in his satisfaction survey that it was a piece of sh*t and tells everyone he can! Well at least he is getting cheap filters!

Good luck!

Are these #'s for LLY 4x4 trucks or LB7 4x2 trucks ?

Also how dependable are WIX filters compared to OEM filters ?

The numbers posted were for my truck. 2004.5 CrewCab D/A LLY SB 2500HD CHEV 2WD. Not sure if 4WD is any different.

I would suggest you (and others) to check the correct numbers for your vehicle. You can get to the Wix web page from filter1.com and check any vehicle for the correct numbers. Also filter1 has a toll free service number you could call for info and verify the correct numbers.

My point in the post is to let you know that if you want to use Wix filters, this seems to be a very good price. I thought I read in other postings somewhere that only Racor made the filters for the Duramax and that they made the Wix fuel filters and Wix just puts their name on it.

From what I've read it appears that the Wix filters are pretty good. Maybe others can comment on Wix filters. My personal feelings are to try and find a decent filter and change them often and you are usually ok. Does no good to have a better filter and not change it and the appropriate fluids!

Hate to tell you this boys, but although the LB7 fuel filter will fit an LLY, the reverse is not true. The LLY filter is about 3/4" longer than the LB7 and IIRC, they are only available from GM right now.

FYI: This filter is for a LB7 and is approx. 3/4" shorter than an LLY, but it will fit on a LLY, if you wanted to.

I'll bet a WIF wrench will work on either one as well....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

You better believe it!

The LB7 element will work, only trouble you MAY run into would be dealer being fussy...
