The injectors on my '02 were replaced in February, just as the policy to replace them in sets of 8 came into effect. They were replaced with P/N 97729095, the latest version as I understand it. I have received my letter stating my injector warranty is 320,000 km/200,000 miles. The injectors were replaced at 63,000 km/39,000 miles. I have put 20,000 km/12,000 miles on the replacements.
Has anyone who has had 8 P/N 97729095 injectors installed had a failure with them?Edited by: WillowCreekStable

Eric,
Any way of telling whether or not the new injectors I got are the latest and greatest?
So far 5,000 miles on the new ones and still running great.

VICTORY RED has asked"Any way of telling whether or not the new injectors I got are the latest and greatest?"
How can we determine FOR SURE that they were replaced with part #97729095. Did anyone other than me see the box they came in?It says in the bulletin that 97729095 is the KIT to use.It also says that the dealer will replace your 8 injectors.THERE IS NO MENTION OF(THE INJECTORS IN THIS KIT) THEM BEING "NEW".
I KNOW FOR A FACT---that the injectors being installed in my truck RIGHT NOW are REMANUFACTURED.I will find out on Monday what the PART # is on them and then we will know.
Anybody?????

WillowCreekStable,
From your post i see you are in Canada also.I have been asking the question on the injector part # you mentioned. My injectors have been done and i'm picking up my truck tomorrow. The ones put in mine are REMANUFACTURED .Part #8972080749 has been installed on my truck --not the # (97729095) stated in the fix bulletin .
In my post today"Who Wags The Tail----dmaxalliTech has replied"first of all, The part number difference is because you are in Canada. GM for some reasons uses different part no's in Canada on some things'. He has a lot more knowledge about this stuff than me so i can't dispute what he says.
How are you so SURE you have received part #97729095 and what would be the reason for different part #'s? What part of canada are you in?

Willow Creek Stable and Burntb4; What kind of failures were yours? Ball seat erosion? Cracks? Stuck open?

Burnt - I got the P/N off the 'no charge' invoice I got after the work was done. They were identified as reman's as well. No other insight into the P/N's, except I have heard there are different P/N's for individual injectors vs sets of 4. (BTW, I work in Stoney Creek, live in the Fort Erie area)
Max - I had a hard/no start condition, high fuel return rates. No fuel in the crankcase. Not sure what that failure mode that indicates.
There are different failure modes, with some failing at very low mileage. The fact no one has (yet...) reported a low mileage failure of current replacements is encouraging.

Max Owner--according to the Tech,my problem was Ball Seat Errosion. The work order states that the following correction was done.
Replaced the right bank on injectors.-Found 6 corroded valve Cover Bolts
Replaced the left bank.
(8-9772905 Injkt Rem-033000.) (-8- 9772905 Core return) (8-97228933-Gasket) and a couple of other seals and gaskets only marked as such.As mentioned by me before the number on the replacement injector is not the number on the work order but a few of you have commented on that and i'm ok with it.I ran it by the Ser.Mgr.and he said the same thing.
To all else that have responded to MY PANIC ATTACK i say THANKS A LOT--Yer Good People. If it were not for this forum i would have been lost in the woods and probably paying BIG BUCKS for the repair as i had no idea that there was a BIG PROB with the injectors Nationwide--let alone a Special Policy Warranty.
A lot of you folks have had more frustration over this than i have and i feel for you.I must say that the dealer,Leggat Pontiac gave me a lesson in what customer service is and that General Motors, via the lady at GM Customer Service that contacted, me have demonstrated that they CAN STAND UP and be accountable when presented with the facts. It's unfortunate that it does not have the same happy ending in all cases.
So all looks good.Drove it home and seems to be back to normal-other than the oil pressure seems a bit higher on the run up to cruising speed and a tad higher on cruise.
Any suggestions on where to proceed from here as far as MONITORING the repair would be appreciated.I have filled my tank and recorded the mileage.
Thanks again everyone.

All mine injectors had electrical problems and they replaced all 8 like they did the last top times. This problem keeps coming back and nobody can tell me why.
