Hi, im Tom, just found out about this forum and hope to be a regular. I have an 04 1/2 Crew Cab Short bed 2500HD LLY duramax. I think its got awesome power stock, but im not one to leave things stock:). This is the first diesel truck ive had for personal use, ive always had 1500s but i wanted more towing capacity for my snowmobiles and cars. I just got the chance to tow a 40' gooseneck with 2 87 monte carlos for an estimated weight total with the trailer to be about 13000 lbs, and the truck didnt miss a beat, held 75 80 going up hills, i was impressed, but theres always room for more power. Im not exactly sure which computer tuner to go with, I like the edge for the fact that it has the attitude monitor, which tells you all the egts and boost and all. But i also like to race once in a while, and i found out that it wont remove the speed limiter. So if im gonna be going pretty fast whats the point of adding all that power if its just gonna go so much faster to 95 mph and stop again., Also, at 95 mph the engine is already at the redline, how much faster can you go before harming the engine? I know i have alot of questions, but i wanna make sure that im not gonna mess something up. I definitely wanna get a K&N intake, and maybe an exhaust in the future. So anyway, hope you guys can answer my questions. Thanks,

Tom

Welcome Tom,

Well you have come to the right "PLACE" for your questions.

Most will start off by upgrading to a free flowing 4" exhaust and the popular AFE STAGE II Intake or another brand intake tube.

After you have freed the engine up to breathe you should explore your options for either a Plug and Play box, such as an EDGE JUICE, Van Aaken Smart box or a tuner like a Predator, Quad Stealth or even a custom written tune by Steve Cole at TTS......

Most of what you are searching for can be purchased from one of our many supporting vendors here.

If you wish to push the envelope a transmission upgrade is highly recommended.

Look around here, most answers to your questions are in the POWER and PERFORMANCE or the ALLISON forums.
