I'm looking to purchase another 6.5 TD with low miles (kms) here in Alberta. What i would like is if anyone could give me an idea as to what i should be looking for in these trucks..eg. was one year better than others, more stock HP, easier to modify, etc.

Here is one i have a small amount of interest in, the engine sounded strong but the body is alot rougher than the picture indicates. Also was there a way to disconnect the odometer to fool the dealers for warranty work as i believe this trucks odometer has been tampered with.

Thanks, heres the link..

That truck had the latest and greatest of GM 6.5TD factory technology. The HO cooling and better IP. Negitive is that you can not read your DTC codes with a paper clip you need a code reader. Also to improve power you need a relfashed EMC which is more costly than the new E-Prom like our 1995 versions. Still a POS exhaust and down pipe. Personally if I was in need of a truck and it fit the bill I would consider it strongly. Also if you have the heavy 3/4 it has 195 hp vs 190 and no EGR or soot trap.

Also for a 1999 the KM or Miles is about average. For a bit more cash you might be able to get a 2001 or 2002 DuraBux (DuraMax)Edited by: 16gaSxS
