: Egt’s with Juice/attitude help?

I did a search, but did not find what I was looking for. I just need a little advice here. I have the standard juice/attitude and need to know a little more about egt's. I have noticed on level 2 (which is what I run on most of the time) that if I stay on the throttle for an extended time it get upwards of 1150 degrees. Is this normal? By the way that is unloaded. I do not have an aftermarket exhaust yet. I know I need one, but don't have the $ yet. If the egt's get too high the edge will back down from what i understand. I was just concerned because even at interstate speeds of 75 I see between 600 to 800. As you can tell I am new to this so any and all input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jason

I see 1400 as I got to about 70mph unloaded......your fine! I need exhaust also. Took off the cat helps a little.....very little though.

Temps sound okay like KT said, but you most likely will need exhaust. The LB7's don't run quite as hot as the LLY's, but all the information I've seen posted around here is that you should not exceed 1350 degrees for very long.

One post by a member said Garrett doesn't want to see anything over 1320 for VVT turbo, but some here with guages and no mods are seeing the LLY's hit 1400 degrees stock. Your truck has a different turbo on it, but I would think the temps it's rated for should be similar. Other members here, who race on a regular basis have seen temps much higher, but that's a relatively short time.

The Attitude comes pre-set to 1350 degrees, and it will start to defuel before it hits that. Mine is showing a max EGT record of 1320 with the limit set at 1350 and you can feel a back down running level 4 near the 5th gear shift. My truck has a Banks CAT back exhaust on it.

Hope that helps...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Damn, that is kinda high. I have dual 4 inch exhaust with a 4 inch AFE intake and cruising at 70 my EGT's stay at around 700 or so. Under WOT they might get to 1200 or so. But, thats it.

I have a AFE Stage II Intake, Full 4" exhaust with duals pipes,
and I will see an HOT EDGE/Attitude L5 hit 1400 degrees without a problem http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif

If you are worried about EGT's then set it to back down at 1350, if you are not worried about EGT's then go with it.

I have not hooked up my Attitude Pyro and have no intention on doing so unless it can record EGT's in excess of 1800 degrees......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

Thanks guys, that makes me feel alot better. Sounds like exhaust is going to have to be in my near future. What is the best bang for the buck on exhaust?

Thanks

In a typical 1/8 mile drag race, I'll hit 1500 and then the Attitude will back down the power. Normaly when towing I set my back down to 1250-1300 just to be on the safe side. I'm not sure if there's a way to go around the backdown without disconecting the probe. The backdown will only go between 900 and 1500. I need to buy a few 100's degrees so an exhaust is in the near future for me unless I win the cutout from street pro!

I thought if you double click the enter button it will allow you to disable your backdown momentarily for like racing and such.

fastoys: You are absolutely right. After posting that I decided to read the manual (a good habit to pick up) and found that info. I was about to post an answer to my own question when I saw your post.

Thanks!

is there a way to change what info is listed in the records section ? the reason i ask is that i used to see max egt's, and max boost in records but now i dont ??? is it because those 2 are always displayed or do i need to change something ??

tbone,

Those two records have been deleted from the production release due to some folks having errors with the Beta's.

I asked Edge about it, then I opted to leave the Beta software on my Attitude to keep those two records. Edge said it was about 50/50 on folks who wanted it versus those who didn't care, so they opted to delete those two.

If they get enough feedback saying folks want those back, they may attempt to find the bug in the software and restore those functions.

You know what to do now...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif
