Thanks for coming down today. Kevin is a real nice guy, and gave me the pleasure of seeing what he has done with his non-bose truck. We did a little testing on his sub and this is what we came up with for moderate level test tone response. The yellow curve is the corrected curve for radio shack SPL meter error. The system he has, he can describe, but his subs provided a near limit of 125 dB (open door) in the mid bass area. We put the SPL meter on the dash. It was fun. He admits the box is too small for the drivers, and that has been confirmed on modeling software, and the mid bass hump confirms that. Nonetheless it had very visceral 20 HZ feel, and those drivers are moving air. He notes the drivers have to be crossed at 60, no doubt that could be moved down to 50 based on these readings. Also adding stuffing was discussed, i think you will like the difference after putting in the fiberglass.

We discussed the bracing, or lack of, causing cabinet resonance and wave cancellation. An afterthought, something you can do without tearing the box apart is get some 1/2" dowel, and connect the front and back panel with it, in several places. Use a 1 ft long bit and drill holes in the exact position you need (through both panels in one shot) them and glue in place, after it cures, cut and sand down the dowels flush. This will stiffen the large baltic birch panels dramatically.

My conclusion is that this is a very acceptable arrangement, but for SQ purposes you might like it better stuffed, braced, and crossed at 50, even crossed at 50 this box will probably reproduce to 70-80 well because of the mis-alignment and subsequent hump. But to get flat response to 100, a bigger box for this driver.

A+ for getting high excusrsion dual 12's behind the seat of a CC. We didn't look much at the Boston separates, but I am liking it so much more than a "bose".Edited by: masterp2

I went to Michael's house today to get my Juice/Attitude from the group buy alot of us got in on.....He's a very nice guy and I want to thank him again for taking his time to evaluate my stereo system. He does build a BEAUTIFUL subwoofer enclosure for 2 10's. I will probally get one from him later this year, as I think overall would be better (my woofers sit right on the back of the rear seats and I don't want to relocate the whole seat bracket).I will be installing my Juice tonight. I will not install the EGT probe due to I already have a pyro installed, and to get to a post turbo location looks too time consuming as of now. I will install it when I get the time (post turbo) so I can compare it to my pre-turbo #'s....

Thanks again Michael (MASTERP2)

P.S. I did see all the other boxes of "JUICES" that he was shipping, so everyone should be seeing theirs shortly.

What drivers did you use (model)? Volume of the box? Also noted that your box is made out of baltic birchhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif. What was your friends source for this and can you get in 3/4"?

Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 RFD-2112

Didn't use 3/4 only because he couldn't meet the volumn requirements. I will be stuffing my box this week and maybe using the dowels like you mentioned.

As you were thinking it needs about 2.5 cubes each. As it sits, it is overdriving the high bass. Try to pass at 10 HZ lower than the present setting, and see if that doesn't sound better to you, you will need to turn up the gain in relation to the main speakers (or turn down the gain on the mains), but I think that will clean up some. If you want to run the curves again after you make some changes, we can do that. Or just get a radio shack SPL meter and I'll e-mail you the spreadsheet. Our ears are so bad at diagnosing sound imbalances, that this process really helps point out where to find problem areas.

I didn't look at your crossovers, are they built into the amp?. This curve almost looks like there is no crossover.

i was just wondering where I can get 3/4" baltic in large sheets.

I'll ask my guy at work tomorrow if he can find 3/4 baltic. My crossovers are in the amps....
