so, i just got acall from my alingment shop (big-O tire) that my truck is A. too long for there equipment, B. too heavy to pick up on there equipment and C. my rims are too "goofy" for there alingment tools to work with.
what the hell?.... i have freaking 16" basic style rims. ....... the rest i can kind of pretend could maybe be true but come on now...... may as well tell me the guy operating the alingment equipment is lazy or not smart enough to work on my truck. ug........
ill be taking a nice walk over to get it and take it some where else.... now to open the phone book and call around .......... aww joy......
has anyone hever had issues trying to get there truck alinged? i dont see it being that uncommin of a thing, that is working on big heavy trucks, granted a lift and large tires could be a bit non commin but.... to flat out say the truck is too big for there equipment to handel, .......
any sugestions on a non typical shop that would be able to do an alingment for me? should i call the local peter built repair shop ......ahahha.... ok maybe not.
doing an alingment on a d-max seems about the same amount of work as doing it on a mid 90's chevy...... and they made big chevy's back in the 90's........ i here even befor that ahah....
thanks

The only issue I've had was the dealer doing the alignment and not centering the steering wheel first and end up with a steering being off center while driving straight. Drove me nuts. Had to go to a different dealer to get it aligned and fight for a refund from the first stealer.
BTW, the first dealer told me that my steering gearbox was bad and that's why they couldn't get the steering wheel centered.
There are some goofballs out there...

i just droped the truck off at a indapenditly operated shop no chain bs now i hope!.......
owner came out to look over the truck after i told him what had happend to me. he was impressed w/ the upgraded parts and siad no problem. they can do it befor closing (as i didnt have a apointment) today.
Big O does my truck with out any problems. I do catch them trying to slip things by me but the manager fixes it pretty fast. I don't have a lift, but they did crank my t bars and align it..

Yea, I went to a big O tire here in the city to have my tires balanced on their Hunter road force machine. It is supposed to be one of the best machines out there. Anyway, long story short the guy didn't know what the numbers meant so he wasn't sure if it was a bad tire or not. He just stuck the weights on.
Lift kit, big tires - yes, probably in need of some front-end work. I would tell the shop that you would like to do it yourself. They should allow you to bring it back after the parts are installed and align it - one charge.

I had that problem when I bought my tires at SEARS. They said that my truck was too long for their machine? Shouldn't they know what can and can't fit on their machine? Anyways I took it to the dealer and had them do it. Now I'm in due for some new tires but still debating on getting rims & tires or just buying bigger tires.

MY 96 gmc 2500 ext cab long box always had a problem finding a rack long enough to align it. Ended up taking it to a good yearship that had a rack for semis. They didnt know what htey were doing w/ifs though i dont belive as they gave me the print outs and they werent right but that was "the best they could do".

What's funny is when your dealer's alignment rack is too short to do a crew cab and they have to send it out. They sell hundred of CC's, and still won't invest in a rack to adequately service the vehicle.
