: Better MPG
bunn87 12-19-2006, 01:45 PM Hey guys, im new on your site. I have an 07 6.6 duramax 2500HD LBZ. It is completely stock right now. I just want to know what which downloader or programmer will give me the best mileage. Also, which exhaust and air intake would you guys recommend....mostly for mileage reasons. I dont want to get too crazy with power. thanks
ccchevyz 12-19-2006, 01:59 PM i got the superships flashpaq on my 06 with 35" tires, and i got a solid 2mpg increase on the performance mode. not to mention the power feels awesome too :D
see my signature for all other mods like exhaust, etc...

NastyNate 12-19-2006, 02:03 PM Magnaflow sounds great. Take out the Cat.
towdog333 12-19-2006, 04:22 PM Save your money on the CAI , they don't do much other than a little better throttle response and spooling up on the turbo
KWnotPete 12-19-2006, 05:54 PM I agree with TOWDOG333 , DON't waste your money on an air intake.. GM's flow just fine and if you would change you could end up with the same headache I have...Damn sensor doesn't like oil...Stick to a quality programmer or module and exhaust...
bunn87 12-19-2006, 07:16 PM ok thanks guys...i wont waste my time on the intake. any other suggestions on which programmer will give me the best mileage?

Don't expect much improved mileage when running a performance programmer or chip. When you add fuel for performance, you generally reduce mpg's. Some have reported slight mileage gains but you really have to hand calc that because the DIC won't be accurate when running an off-the shelf performance program. Dont' get me wrong, the chips are fun!

SixPak 12-20-2006, 12:45 PM Wow, it looks like the Superchips Flashpaq actually improves mileage. I'm impressed!

MAXMSCL 12-20-2006, 01:07 PM X3 on the Superchips for me :D
I went with Corsa exhaust, very nice gains and very quiet, almost stock quiet. I just ordered my downpipe, interested to see if that will produce any extra sound....
JerseyWreckDiver 12-20-2006, 01:46 PM I'm also on the prowl for something to increase milage and honestly I wouldn't care if it did nothing for the HP, for me it has plenty. If I'm looking to drag race I'll buy another sports car. My main concern with any of the chips/programmers/tuners is potentially damaging something, especially the EXTREMELY expensive Allison Trans. Its a new truck with a long warrentee period and the manuals now have a warning on practically every page about things not being covered under warrentee if mods like chips & stuff are used. I really just want to bump up the MPG as much as I can. any suggestions? Any thoughts on the chips causing damage to things?
hill1430 12-20-2006, 10:23 PM I have seen almost a 2 mpg increase with the edge. :D

My 70 now has about 1K on it. I've definitely noticed an average of 1mpg around town with my Hypertech on level 1. I know this because I've had to take the tune out for the last 6 times I've taken the truck in for service, including this am once again.
I definitely think the programmer helps. I don't care much for hot rodding it but want to get the best mpg and reliability from the truck... if that's a possibility with this thing. Check my sig, I did add an exhaust also.
Evil_C5 12-21-2006, 12:00 PM X2 :D
x4 only with the HPP3
rutwad 12-22-2006, 08:54 PM Has anybody noticed more mpg with just the tuner. Seems like most guys have combined it with new exhaust. Maybe it's the combination that gives more mpg.
