I am concerned with my paint job on my 05' (see sig). I detailed this weekend and there are a lot of small rick chips all over the truck. I do nto offroad and would consider my driving over the past year to be normal with regards to potentials for damage.
Locations of chips are the hood, tail gate, lower rocker panel (expected) and various locations down the side.
Maybe its because the truck is black and shows the primer more but I do not recall this being an issue on my 00' Ext Cab. I am thinking about taking to the dealer as I am wondering if the paint thickness is not correct.
Ideas or thoughts on this?

Welcome to GM paint. If a bee hits you its chipped ! My running boards are pretty beat up I have a touch up bottle on hand . My hood is as easy to chip also .
I thought about that spray on colored chip guard from a good paint shop that if it chips its still black ! I'm not a fan of bed liner on my running boards, but eventually something will have to be done. Having over sized tires and dirt roads don't help !

I have the same problem, Steve, and we probably run down a lot of the same roads. The sand and gravel that the road crews put down in the winter are a lot of the problem. I live on a gravel road, so that really does not help much either.
My truck is a lot lighter than yours, so my amateurish attempts at using touch up paint a couple of times a year do not show up that much.

I have a clear bra on the front end of my 06. It's installed like window tint, any good quality tint shop can do this its 4 mil thick & small rocks bounce off. Did it the first weekend I got the truck & no chips on mine.

Running boards - or do you mean rocker panels?
