i took a trip up to dumont last week and the temp outside was about 115. pulling the 5th wheel whitch is about 13,000 to 14,000lbs up a steep long grade my temp gauge whent up to 240. well when i got back i noticed a loud grinding noise and found that the rubber on the center bearing on the drive line melted and slipped part way onto the driveline its self. i have since replaced it and everthing is fine. but with just 50,000 miles on the truck was wondreing if anybody else has had this happen?

Old gas truck had a center bearing, first one went @ 48k, second @ 77k. Finally found one with a zerk fitting, and that was the end of repalcing the center bearing.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Do you have any noticable shudder in the drivetrain? I did and ended up lowering it to realign and cure the shudder. While doing this I noticed the webs in the rubber were starting to wear and would enventually fail.

Why they dont come with a zerk fitting is beyond me. That thing has to be greased some time. Think when truck gets 50-60000 miles I'll buy one and take it with me whereever I go!
