I bought one and hooked it up to the garage compressor, ears ringing for 2 days! Don't try this at home.

Heck of a good pricehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gifEdited by: HD-Nate
TEXMudder 07-29-2004, 10:39 PM Good price but I imaging the pitch is pretty high on 15 inchers.
baimpala 07-29-2004, 10:56 PM Definitely too high pitched for a DMAX. I have the 26"/29" Hadley combo on my truck and they sound GREAT. I have a set of air horns on the wife's Mini Cooper that are about 10"/12" combo, and let's just say that they fit the car nicely. Sound like a set of clown car horns, but loud as hell... I would steer away from something that short.

baimpala 07-29-2004, 10:58 PM Oh, yeah, that is just for the horns, you still need an air source and activation. . . .
TEXMudder 07-30-2004, 12:11 AM baimpala, any pictures of your setup? Where did you mount the horns and tank?
baimpala 07-30-2004, 08:23 AM I'll take a few today and post. So far I like where they are but I'm probably going to add a strap to the compressor/tank bracket.

killerbee 07-30-2004, 08:53 AM I tested them, I don't think they are high pitched at all. They are not 12" plastic clown horns, they are truck horns. Same as on big rigs, and IMO they are more appropriate than something that sounds like an anomoly. I was surprised. And they have more mounting options. But the best part is not having a $150 price. For 120 dB, find a better deal.
Anyway I posted this to give others an opportunity, it's not a contest. Hands down the best true airhorn value out there.Edited by: masterp2

SAME horns, hear them here, and notice the price. Much more dramatic at 120 dB
baimpala 07-30-2004, 11:01 AM Michael,
You're right, they don't sound bad. I just like the lower pitch of the Hadleys (although I'm pretty sure Grover makes a longer trumpet set as well). I didn't pick a brand for names sake, I just wanted the long trumpets, and I found them at a pretty good price (www.campingworld.com (http://www.campingworld.com) do a search for Hadley).
I took a couple of pictures of my setup, but they came out very dark. I'm going out right now to get some more with the flash on.

TEXMudder 07-30-2004, 02:01 PM Cool mounting. HD-Nate has his tank up in that spot. I still need to get mine mounted on the new truck.
BTW, truck horns can be had at most truck slavage yards for $20-30.
baimpala 07-30-2004, 06:06 PM Michael,
I just re-read your post. Didn't mean to offend. I wasn't trying to compete either, but I looked around for a long time online before I wound up going with the Hadley's. A lot of the shorter horns have a much higher pitch, the Grover's are pretty good. Hell if it was a competition, I'd have lost a long time ago to Hoot, HD-Nate and the other guys running train horns, now those are some horns!
I guess if you are pretty good with air systems, you could fab up a compressor, tank, presssure switches and solenoids pretty easy, but it just seemed like the Hadleys had the whole deal ready to go.
Dennis
I still can't post the other two pictures, I guess I'm over my picture postin' limit.
killerbee 07-30-2004, 06:35 PM Oh, no problem, you have a point. That ebay horn is best for the guy with the air in place. Or piecing together like me.
Just one advantage of these horns, you can mount them up front if you want.Edited by: masterp2
