My dad could use a set of GM towing mirrors for X-mas. When he bought the truck he ended up with one that had the smaller power mirrors (LT3) and I was wondering if it is just a simple swap out with the electric and all.

Yup, simple bolt on/ plug in. Took me 30 min. Cost me $400 from GM

'03 and newer GM trucks are plug and play. '02 and older will have to modify wiring...

He had an '04 with the telescoping ones that were nice. I think they changed them to a style similar to the Titan and Super Duty in '06. Do these telescope in and out also? Will the factory switch that is in the truck now opperate the telescoping function? Can I use the '04 style on a '06 truck?
Sorry for so many questions.

These new mirrors are NOT power telescoping like the 03-05 style. If you were to swap some 04's to an 06 you might need to have the BCM flashed to be able to operate the telescoping function. The 06 switches did not need this function, so i asume it would not work nice and simple.

The '06 tow mirrors have turn signals, power mirror for the top only, heated top mirror, in and out telescope by hand only. The '04 style will work on a '06, provided you have the proper switches to operate the function of the mirror...

I have 04 camper mirrors with power, heat, and turn.

I want the nice towing mirrors you guys are talking about. Will they work in my 04? what ones do I want (certain years?)(style?). I would like power, heat and turn.

Thanks ahead of time

If the 06 had power folding mirrors, you can put on the 05 style power extending. If it doesn't have power folding, you could either put on the 06 style manual extending or change the door switch assembly and install the power extending ones. You will have to use a tech 2 to program the power extending ones.

Jerry when you say power folding mirrors what do you mean. I have the power camper mirorrs that power extend out.....is that what you mean?

If so then 05 or 06 will plug in and work fine?

Is one beter than the other?

Thanks to all
Dave

While we on this subject of these mirrors, I would like to install them on my '07 Classic. I do not have power mirrors, but some lame towing mirrors with wide angle slivers in the outer edges. I hate those slivers, as I use the whole mirror when backing up. So my question is, can these '06 mirrors be adjusted manually? I am not going to change out my door panels, or add the control modules. I have no way to flash the BCM. And I don't know if there is a wiring harness inside the doors.

I have been reading the posts on the new 2006 towing mirrors. I have 04 chevy 2500hd - anybody have a part number for those mirrors? I would like to order a set myself.

Just do a search, this was a huge topic a year ago on here. I found the P/Ns on here along with a chevy dealer that was selling them at substantial discount from MSRP. I think I paid $340 with shipping for the pair and had them in 2 days, I was happy. They are super easy to install and work 10 times better than the standard mirrors.
