Hello,

What oil pressure should I expecting on a 06 LLY?

Warm idle is 38-40.

Goes up as rpm increases. 60-80psi

I just assumed oil pressure would be high all the time.

Also, when should I change the oil for the first time? Just about 200 miles currently.

Thanks,

That's normal. :)

Most people do their first oil change between 1000 to 5000 miles. Gives the engine time to flush out all the junk from manufacturing.

I wish mine was that high, usually get ups there just takes a while. But very normal..

Mine is around 30 at idle and at red lights. The dealer said that is normal I say not, it's to low IMHO.

That's normal for a high volume pump. My Kenworth and other large trucks all idle at about 30lbs and run down the highway at between 70 and 80lbs.

Same thing on my 06 LLY here.
On a different note, does anyone else wait for the oil pressure to come up before throwing it into gear and driving off when starting the engine (even warm)? Or am I the only paranoid one?

No,you're not the only paranoid one.As an excavating contr. for 32 years,I not only wait for a pressure read but also check the stick on pretty much everything before the start.Ya never know.
