Just wondering what is the loudest, and still good sounding cat back set up to go with? I don't want to have to mess with tripping codes and stuff with a turbo back system, so I would like to go with a cat back. Are duals louder than a single pipe?

Straight pipe if your looking for loudness.:D The cat will still deaden some of the sound. I would have to say the duals make it sound a little quieter if anything because it throws the sound out in 2 areas instead of 1.

Get the cat back dual system from MBRP, sounds soooo good on a DMAX! They now have muffler deletes for the duals.....even more noise. Louder isn't really the word, aggressive is more like it. Cat back singles, most people feel aren't loud enough, but the duals sound completely different.

This link will allow you to hear a sound bite, not of an 06 cat back but an 05, will sound the same.

I would have to say a 5" MBRP kit is going to be the loudest. They have a muffler on them, but it really isnt much. If thats not loud enough you can always get the muffler delete.

Does anybody know for sure if the MBRP 4" duals or the 5" single would be louder?

I have heard them both in person. If I was looking for loudest possible, no doubt it would be the 5" kit.

Any 5" system with no muffler will sound the same. Actualy any exhaust system with the same size pipe and such will sound the same, its all in the muff. And if you want noise your going to ditch the muff :D 5" will make a wee bit more noise and have a deeper tone.

Tail pipe location(like dual or were the single exists) will make cab noise difference. The main difference in sound between systems is in the muffler but if your ditching that theywill all sound the same. Just buy based on price/quality/looks/material that you weigh out to find whats the right compromise for you.

The cat will take out some or quite a bit of the sound.

If you get an EGR blocker and a finger stick you shouldnt have codeds if you ditch the cat. Heck I didnt even throw codes with none of that and a catless exhaust.

The 4040 Aero Turbine is by far the loudest muffler choice on a 4-inch system.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Just to make sure, a 5" cat back system with no muffler shouldn't throw any codes then?

What is the difference between the MBRP t-304 and t-409 stainless steel?

I believe
T-304 is refered to as polished stainless. Should not rust.
T-409 is a lower grade of stainless that surface rust will form a protective layer on the outside. However it will still last a long time. how soon your 409 will rust depends on where you live it will not be a buy today rusted tomarrow thing. If that makes any sence.

Thats correct, just want to add that T304 from MBRP will carry a lifetime warranty and the T409 10 year warranty.

Also, to the question about cat back five inch throwing codes, it shoudln't...four inch doesn't.
