: Exhaust tips... Who likes them?
Ssniper3105 12-14-2006, 07:42 PM I installed a 4'' MBRP exhaust system on my and my neighbor's truck...
I'm just wondering how many people with an aftermarket exhaust installed a tip...?
:confuzeld
got-h2o 12-14-2006, 08:06 PM Not to discount those with tips, but I personally don't like them. No matter what, you can always tell it's a tip. Especially if you bump up a size. I like looking at my 5" tailpipe-it looks more natural to me. I would, on the other hand, like a polished stainless tailpipe to take the place of the one provided with the kits. Imagine that-mandrel bent over the rear axle(or at least near it so it's hidden) then connected to the system-that would be slick!
DangerousDuramax 12-14-2006, 08:09 PM I got a 5" X 22" SS tip so I would say yes. But, its about to get turned into a 6" X 48" stack so...no. :D
T-Rex 12-14-2006, 09:35 PM The only complaint I have about the Corsa system is that it is too short to not use a tip. Consequently they supply you with a gay looking oval one. I'd go tipless if I could, but am too...frugal to buy a better lookin' tip.
If Corsa ever makes a 5-inch system that's as drone free as their 4-inch I'm in.
...don't need no stinkin' tips.
Bodysurfer 12-14-2006, 10:22 PM Got to have a nice tip!
arguy 12-14-2006, 10:31 PM I don't like the tips, it makes the exhaust look like it is for a gas engine, a diesel needs to have a big pipe(s) NOT A BIG TIP!
Riccas 12-14-2006, 11:08 PM Gotta love how its nice and shiny :thumb:
AlligatorPerformance 12-14-2006, 11:12 PM MBRP makes the nicest tips too. It's the only way to roll!
DuramaxxedLBZ 12-15-2006, 12:05 AM MBRP makes the nicest tips too. It's the only way to roll!
Agreed!
2500hd05 12-15-2006, 12:30 AM yeah, i like mbrp two chamber tips. with a angel cut, sweet
Tow Master 12-15-2006, 04:07 AM Tip fo sho :bigglasse
Every time I see a diesel I check for a tip to see if they have anything done to it. I got a silverline tip for free when I ordered my MBRP exhaust from ebay.

Z71offroader 12-15-2006, 10:50 AM i like tips, especially on my black truck. makes it stick out. 6x15" with a 5" inlet here!
lbz492 12-15-2006, 10:56 AM the exhaust i have didn't come with a tip and i didn't put one on
fast03 12-15-2006, 11:00 AM I have a 6"x24" and I like it because it goes so far back under the truck you cannot see the pipe size difference.
BLUE72CAMARO 12-15-2006, 12:37 PM I like the tip that came with my 304 mbrp system.
01Grey2500HD 12-15-2006, 01:45 PM I have a 6"x24" and I like it because it goes so far back under the truck you cannot see the pipe size difference.
Thats exactly what I have and I agree with you, you would really have to get under there and look to see that it isnt a 6 inch pipe.
kctay 12-15-2006, 03:00 PM MBRP does not produce the nicest diesel tips IMHO. Many other manufactures have not only nicer quality tips, but more options. MBRP is not a mature company that has been around for decades like many others. I have been in the exhaust business (own 6-locations) for over 30 years and find that generally people that don't like stainless tips, either have nothing else shinny on their rig (see bumper :) ) or haven't seen all the options available. A life with out tips, is like a shirt with no pants.
Just my humble opinion
Wooter 12-15-2006, 04:50 PM where did you guys find your 6" x 24" long tips from? I have found them for 4 " exhaust but not 5 ".
hollister bob 12-15-2006, 05:06 PM Yup, Chrome tip, angle-cut... Also keeps black exhaust away from white wheel-well!!!:drop_mout :drop_mout :drop_mout
SLT223 12-15-2006, 05:25 PM Agreed!

02 WS6 TA 12-17-2006, 02:35 PM You could say I'm a fan of the tip. :D

towdog333 12-17-2006, 04:19 PM After having a chrome tip on the exhaust it just wouldn't look right without it;)
bo799 12-17-2006, 10:46 PM It doesn't matter how long your tip is everyone else is riding around eye level with the axle. If you could hide it then it would be nice but it can't be hidden. I bought one, put it on, and then took it off.
Wolford 12-17-2006, 11:50 PM I dont like tips. I wish somebody would make a 4 or 5 inch system that was identical to the stock system. I love the way the stock tail pipe looks.
philtopgun 12-18-2006, 12:24 AM My Banks Monster exhaust came with a tip. I put it on and it looks good. If the tip didnt come with it, it would be tipless and still look good....:)
Tips serve a purpose for some. For instance, MBRP quit making a dually specific kit with longer tail pipes so in order to keep from sooting up my bubble butt, I had to add a tip. My tip is invisible since I haven't washed my truck for a few months so it looks like the rest of the dirty exhaust tubing.
Doo800XP 12-18-2006, 06:38 PM I used to like my tip but I took it off. Had a 5" slash cut. I made a slash cut with the sawsall on the tail pipe and I like the look of that better. If you can see the connection of the pipe and tip then it looks fake. But if your pipe is tucked underneath the bed and the a fat tip protrudes out from under the side then it looks cool. And, for people in certain professions it doesn't look great to have blatantly modified exhaust (like here in Cali where we're supposed to have cat's!).
JD4440 01-15-2007, 07:33 PM don't have one b/c i can't find one that doesn't have the rolled edge or is double wall.
WI Huck 01-15-2007, 07:58 PM The tips are both useful and look good. The new Silverline black chrome ones are very cool if you want to be different.
TIM Z 01-15-2007, 08:09 PM I Love My Big 6'' Tip! makes up for other short cummings!!:D http://photobucket.com/albums/c170/TIMZ_/DSC01408.jpg
rolloffhill 01-15-2007, 08:10 PM MBRP makes the nicest tips too. It's the only way to roll!
-:t Seriously?? They are the most awkward looking tips IMO. They are too short and look weird.....
You could say I'm a fan of the tip. :D

MADDIESEL 01-16-2007, 01:04 AM personally don't like tips, regardless how nice i think they are, they stick out too far and most times look awkward from what i've seen members do with them. I would just cut the end to match up with the sides of the truck and make a clean look rather than have a tip.
Unit453 01-16-2007, 01:26 AM I ran tipless for a couple years with my 04 LLY.
I ended up with a Magnaflow tip because it was, to me, the least pronounced, and best overall looking style. I dont like the huge, long chrome tips. I prefer the MBRP tubing and muffler with the Magnaflow style tail pipe. I like the 90 degree way it arrows out toward the right side.
This pic is off my 04.
Polarbear 01-16-2007, 10:06 PM I dont like tips. I wish somebody would make a 4 or 5 inch system that was identical to the stock system. I love the way the stock tail pipe looks.
Im pretty sure my 4" mbrp on my lb7 was identical to the stock setup. I like the angled out tailpipe that the stock exhaust has...
Unit453 01-16-2007, 11:17 PM I wish I could buy parts in pieces....
I would want:
MBRP downpipe and tubing (I'm keeping the cat)..., MBRP muffler, Magnaflow tail pipe and 5" tip.
