I am currently getting ready to removed the carpet out of my TJ and put some kind of a bedliner in its place. I would love to put in line-X or some other really nice liner in, but they are just too much money for this application. NO offense to truckdaddy and all those people, as those liners are great products and I'll be adding line-x to my truck after the first of the year. I'm looking for people who have used some of the "do it" yourself bed lineing stuff. I know of hurculiner, and durabank. Anyone use either of these or know of other compaines? I would guess thining them out and spraying them would be better, but does anyone know if rolling it on will do? Color is not that important, however, I may use tan, black, or Red as my jeep is red with black accesesories, with tan interior and currently tan carpet. I will be gutting everything, probobly even the dash and adding a roll cage at or around the same time. Guys, as I have seen forum my few short months here, there is an unlimited amount of knowladge and experience here and this has to be the BEST forum I have ever belonged to. Your help, opions and knowledge would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks Todd

I have tried Herculiner and had dismal results. I tried restriping the bed and rea applying it and still disappointed in it. Not nearly as thick as a rhino or linex to provide cushion. When you spend 20,000 + on a truck and you use your bed 9it is what gets uesed) why not protect it with the best.

I have tried the do it yourself ones in the past and have not had great results either. Especially when you look at them side by side with a rhino or line x

OK thanks for the reply's guys. I WILL be putting Line-X in the bed of ny truck. Remember this application is the floor of a jeep. I won't be draging metal or gravel across the floor of it. I will be pressure washing it from time to time. I need other items more than I need an expensive bedliner in my jeep, like a REAL roll cadg. Thanks again! Any other opions?

I would avoid putting do-it-yourself liner on ANYTHING you might want line-x on, it could really cause you problems later. Line-x is a great product, not at all cheap, but a great product.

I've been looking at the Bed Rug liners. Any thoughts about those? I hear that GM and Ford are in the process of making deals with the Wise Industries (maker of the Bed Rug) to get them installed at dealers or maybe even the factory.

Check out some of the Jeep forums. There are tons of guys who have used the Hurculiner with great results.
I did it in my YJ and it looks good. I only used one gallon and put on a couple coats. It doesn't need to be as thick as what you would normally put on the bed of a pickup because your probably not going to be hauling the same kind of equipment inside a Jeep as you would in the back of a truck.
Total cost was less than $100 and it does what I wanted it to. It is a little more time consuming figuring that you will want to remove everything to apply it.

I've doen the herculiner on wheel wells on my brothers rock truck and on my step brackets. It worked great, you have to make sure you apply it properly. If you are only doing the floor it may take 2 gal. Just make sure you prep well and follow instruction. The stuff i've done inside a blazer and previous listed worked well. My brother tried it on the floor in his cab and didn't follow instructions and now it is pealing. It's not bad stuff for areas that don't take a beaten like I listed but would never use in a bed.

i have had almost every bed liner out there at one time or another. i just did three trucks with herculiner. i sprayed it on for this does a lot better job then painting. we also added some silica sand which gives it a nice gritty feel. all my professional bed liners where somewhat slick when wet for this product with the sand added is not. time will tell on how it holds up but so far I'm very impressed.

i rebuilt my 93 yj about a year ago and i sprayed in herculiner and had great results and i have no problems with it yet. didnt cost much either. all i did was bought the cans of it and then a duplicolor spray gun and hooked it to my air compressor. i can get into more detail if interested but heres some before and after pics of mine.
