What year truck do you have ? We have had a lot of cluster problems at GM dealerships over the past few years. I had a 99 1/2 ton truck and I had to go thru 3 clusters to get a good one. It started with the original one not showing the odometer unless I pushed really hard on the reset botton and held it in, as soon as I let off, it went out again. I would bet that you have a bad dash cluster.
