: how to remove bezel?

Picked up my '04 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax/Allison in March & right off had one of the injectors go south... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

The dealer was eventually able to fix it (hopefully), but there has been a rattle/binding sound from behind the left side of the instrument pannel ever since the repair.

I would like to remove the gray plastic bezel that surrounds the instrument panel (the bezel that goes around the left air vent, over the gauges, around the stereo equipment, below the steering wheel & back to the left air vent).

I want to be sure of the the locations of the various clips & remove them properly so as not to force & damage anything. Anybody know how to do this? Is there a diagram somewhere online I could look at showing the position of the retaining clips and/or R/R instructions?

Thanks.

Tilt steering wheel all the way down ,gear shift indicator in first . Start in a corner and pull straight out sharply ,work your way around.

Awesome - easy enough! I hopefully found what was making the noise also -- the 4x4 switch cluster was hanging loose & just resting on the inside surface of the bezel ... it just fell out when the bezel was removed.

Thanks.

Also, be easy putting it back on. Sometimes those clips bend or wont snap in all the way if you use brute force. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Thanks for the replies ... worked easy enough.

One other question that came out of this ... where can I get that sound-deadening material that is squirted around the perimeters of the openings in the bezel?

It's like a thin black rubbery line that was obvioulsly a liquid squeezed out of a tube around various surfaces on the backside of the bezel. Looks to me like some of it was damaged/removed when the dealer had to get in there for the diagnostic stuff a couple monts back.

I'd like to replace it with the same stuff, or at least something very similar.

You could check out the stealer, but I would figure you could pick some up at the audio store. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
