: Edge and Power Windows?
ZZ4x4 07-28-2004, 02:11 PM After I installed the Edge Juice, I lost the ability to open the power windows unless the truck is running. Didn't they...and aren't they supposed to operate with the key in the accessory/run positionhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif. I swear they did right up until the edge was installed. I wouldn't think the Edge even sees these signals, so maybe unrelated? Anybody else???
Max Power 07-28-2004, 02:21 PM Unplug the edge and see if it corrects the problem.
BassinRVer 07-28-2004, 02:29 PM The two are not related, at least I have never heard of this.
Idle_Chatter 07-28-2004, 05:25 PM My windows will not operate in the accessory position, you have to go one click further to the run position (but don't have to crank and start).
Amberjack 07-29-2004, 12:02 PM You should see how fast my windows are on level 4!!

ZZ4x4 07-29-2004, 12:12 PM Today I tested again. The windows work if the doors are left closed, the truck had just been running and the key is in run/acc with engine off. After you open a door, the windows will not operate. There is no way to get them to operate again until you start the truck regardless of key position or door position. I thought you could simply turn the key to "run" and activate the windows whether or not the doors are open or closed.
Idle_ Chatter , can you try opening your driver door and try to operate the windows with the truck not running. Put the key in "run" of course.

ratlover 07-29-2004, 03:39 PM After your truck has been running and you take your key out certian functions will stay on till you open the door(or wait 10 minutes). Your radio will stay on and you will be able to mess with the windows and the like.
My windows come down just like they alsways didhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
ZZ4x4 07-29-2004, 04:10 PM I realize this is a stupid post and there are so many better things to worry about buthttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Stern Smile.gif...
I know the accessories work after you turn off the truck and until you open a door. Mine still does that.
But try this. Walk up to your truck and open the door. Put the key in and turn it to run (don't start her up) . Do your windows work? I sure thought they did when I got ready to install the Edge because I wanted the winders down for air while working on the attitude cabling. After installing I reached in again to put the windows back up. Nothing. Had to start the truck to get the windows to workhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif.
ratlover 07-29-2004, 04:27 PM Hey, if you were driving a ford you wouldnt have time to worry about little chit like thishttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif No biggy thoughhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
I'll try to remember to do a bit of recon when I leave for work and I will try to remember to post the results. I definatly aint promising anything because the only thing of mine thats shorter than my memory is.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif never mind http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif
My 01 works as ZZ remembers- after the RAP timer expires or the door is opened killing the windows, turning the key back to run (ign on) lets the windows work. No starting required. My old Toyota had the same system, and I removed the trigger lead from the passenger door switch that overrode the timer so I could still close the windows for the full 1-min time even when the passenger bailed prematurely.
baimpala 07-29-2004, 10:12 PM Okay, after reading this last night, it didn't make any sense, so I went out and checked it myself.
My windows work any time the key is in accessory (unless of course the batteries were removed or completely dead, http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif).
Same for Run
When in off, if I open a door, they will no longer work until I put a key in again and turn to accessory or run. If no door is opened and the key is in off they will work for about a minute.

ZZ4x4 07-30-2004, 06:12 AM baimpala, thanks. So yours DO work like I remember mine working before. Do you have the Edge/*** installed?
baimpala 07-30-2004, 08:39 AM Absolutely they were like that. I thought I was crazy when you said that they didn't work. I spend a lot of time in the truck with the engine off. I watch the two boys (while they watch movies) so SWMBO goes into the commissary to buy food. I probably spend about two hours a week in there without it running, so I have become pretty familiar with how the stuff works in the various key positions.
Dont' have Edge/Attitude yet, but one is on order, I was a group buyer, and was probably about last on the list. Anxiously waiting, but as soon as it goes in, I'll check the windows and report back my findings.

ratlover 07-30-2004, 09:12 AM I have the J/at and I opened my door and put the key into the acc position(one click forward, not the run) and windos went up and down. hey, I rememberedhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif
ZZ4x4 07-30-2004, 02:06 PM Ratlover, thanks. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gifYou have the LB7 juice though , right? Anybody wanna try it with the new LLY juice (which is what I have)? I'm sure it's just MY truck that is acting goofy, but we could sure put it to rest if one of the LLY juicers can test it.
I'm just too darn lazy to get out there and yank out the juice module to see if the windows work again without ithttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif?
There wouldn't be any fuses that would do this right? I mean they work with the vehicle running for gosh sakeshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
There is separate fusing and relay(s) for the RAP; You might check. If your interior lamps work correctly, they're probably not the issue.
biggar 08-05-2004, 02:13 AM I had my drivers door opened for awhile tonight while I was installing my Juice / Attitude. When I closed the door, they all just locked all by themselves. Click. I was lucky I was home and my brides keys were in the house, as mine were sitting in the center console. Anyone know what the deal is with that?
Gar
Burner 08-05-2004, 03:10 AM If you had hit the lock button twice and then hit the open side of the lock button and shut the door....... the truck would "lock it's self" after a very short time. Go try it and give us feedback.
ZZ4x4 08-05-2004, 07:53 AM Also, please try to operate the power windows without starting the truck, as I am still at a loss as to why mine won't work now. If yours work with the LLY edge, then it must not be the edge causing my prob.
biggar 08-05-2004, 10:42 AM Wife is at work with the truck now, but I will give it a try.
Gar
Auto locking behavior is programmable, at least in '01. Somewhere in the owner's manual it tells you how. It's some hocus of ignition key and lock buttons if I remember. I chose no-auto-locking mode. I figure if I can drive the truck, I can handle my own locking. I could be wrong, though.
ZZ4x4 08-07-2004, 10:33 PM But what about the windows????
Wolford 08-07-2004, 11:09 PM Hey I checked my windows tonight and the work in the accessory pos. with my edge w/tude installed
Yes, as I said earlier, windows work in at least run position no matter what. '01 LB7
baimpala 08-13-2004, 01:28 PM Well, I got my Juice/Attitude yesterday. Of course as soon as I got home I didn't even eat (for me that's a big deal) and installed it right away.
Anyway, my windows still work as before, no changes because of the Juice/Attitude.
Dennis
ZZ4x4 08-13-2004, 02:50 PM Alrighty then. Thanks for checking. Must just be my truck then. I think I'll try disconnecting the batteries and rebooting.
My truck did something else weird. This morning I started it up and it was clanking and banging and felt like only a few cylinders were firinghttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif. The engine light came on. I shut it down and then restarted. Worked fine after that. HMMMM. Seems like a have a few gremlins running aroundhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif.
baimpala 08-13-2004, 06:02 PM You sure you didn't bump any other connectors and got the Edge ones seated correctly? Just a thought. Sounds like intermittent problems that could be caused by a loose connector somewhere.
