Anyway, can I simply replace the glass or will I have to replace the whole unit?

It's an 04 electronic mirror with the turn signal blinker in it.

You can replace the glass, but it lists for over $400 if it's the auto dim glass IIRC. Buying a new or used mirror assembly would be cheaper and easier in the long run.
I was behind a guy at the GMC dealer parts counter with a broken driver's side mirror glass from his denali last week. He didn't buy it.

There was a guy on eBay selling just the mirrors(i.e. no housing), but I don't know if he is there anymore. The mirror were wired for heat and turn signals. Just looked....here is the link:

Go to the dealership and tell them it just broke. They should cover it under warranty.

I broke the mirror in my 06 towing mirrors and GM could get it for $80 but covered it under warranty.

As long as theres no damage to the mirror housing I'd get it replaced.

The passenger side mirror on my 2003 truck cracked. I ordered a replacement mirror from GMPartsDirect.com for $88.77 plus S&H. This is only the mirror. It fits on the electric camper mirrors (I think maybe made by PowerVision) and has the turn signal and is heated. The mirror has not arrived yet, but I am hoping that I can remove the old and install the new one myself. You might also check the PowerVision website. They also sell replacement mirrors for the camping mirrors.

my 03 passenger mirror cracked every winter I had it. It was a heated mirror and I think the dealer said they had a problem with some of them heating up to fast or something like that. Anyway, they replaced it under warranty.
