I'm about to swap in a 6.2 into the 79' K30.

The factory engine was a 350 and 4 core radiator, I believe to be 28" wide core. Will this factory radiator have sufficient enough capacity to cool the 6.2 with the A/C on while towing or will it send the engine to the junk yard?

I do have a 35" core 6.2 radiator but the radiator support in the 79' must be modified to for this to fit.

Any wisdom? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I would recomend using the 6.2 rad it will be worth the exra time in the long run to have the extra cooling compasity, so you don't have to deal with things like craked heads.

I put a 1984 6.2L engine in my 1970 Chev C30 in 1984 with the stock 350 radiator that came with the truck. I never had an over heating problem. In 1994, I transferred the engine to my 1986 dually and installed a 4 row modine. Frankly, it doesn't cool as well as the old 1970 radiator. Someone told me that the OEM radiators (like my Modine) have thicker tubes than the GM factory radiator which makes them run warmer since the tubes don't transfer the heat to the air as well.
