Hey guys,
I have been researching my wastegate problems and havent come with an answer yet. My attitude was reading 25.6 psi and so I wanted a little more boost. I wanted around 28 to 30. So, I pressurized the wastgate and turned it 3 turns(making the rod shorter) and it still pegs 25.6
Okay, here is the kicker. The original bolt on the banks wastegate broke. So I drilled it out and I had to slide a bolt behind it and put a lock washer and a nut on it. Now, is that affecting it? Does it have to swivel or anything? I need a quick fix guys. Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
ChadEdited by: dieselboostfreak

Anybody? I need to know..because I really dont wanna order another one. And I am afraid that its gonna mess something up. Does the nut and bolt matter? I dont know if swivels or not. Damn, I am confused. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif
The Attitude will max out at that reading because it merely reads the ECM boost value, which maxes out at that reading. If you want to play with (fire) your boost, you need an external gauge. Search for "max boost" on all forums for suggested limits.
On edit, I hope the bolt didn't break by itself operating...

Here is another kicker, I called edge and they said the attitude will read all the boost it can. It mentioned nothing about a limit of 25.6
I have seen it with the old stock wastegate peg 29lbs. No, the original bolt broke will tightening it. It was even that tight and broke. Thanks Banks engineering. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Can the bolt be separated from the actuator diaphragm so you could weld it or make a new one? Anybody got closeup pics?

No, I dont actually. But, does the attitude read over that boost level? i am kinda getting worried. I dont know whether its just the attitude not reading right or its my bolt. Anybody know?

yep juice wont read anymore than that
Sounds like you may need to go with a Grade 8 replacement bolt there, Hercules http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Isn't that thing like 3/8" ?

My SPA guage has read over 30 pounds, but my Attitude has never read more than somewhere around 26. I recall seeing in writing that Attitude was limited to a low number, due to getting its signal from GM's electrical system. I no longer monitor boost with the Attitude due to this.

The GM boost pressure sending unit on the LB7 maxes out at 26 PSI, any more than that should set a code. Your Attitude monitor uses the signal from this sending unit so it will never show any more than what you see now. If you want to see actual boost values greater than that you will need a mechanical gauge (darn, that Attitude package is so nice!)
Now I have a question of my own- has anyone measured actual before and after EGT's after converting to a 4" exhaust system?

I saw a 200 degree drop when pulling the trailer up a grade, or during a WOT run. Runs about the same temp under light load as before the exhaust.

Thanks for the information. I do most of my driving at about 3000' altitude so I know this affects EGT's (and boost). I see about 1200 degrees max.
As it happens one of my friends is bolting a Magnaflow 4" system on his 03 LB7 (Juice/Attitude also) this weekend so I can do some direct comparisons with his truck. Edited by: brewster29

Thanks for info guys! I am installing my boost gauge today so hopefully I can get this set. Shooting for 28lbs. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
