Just ordered a case of 16oz bottles of the performance formula standyne. Got it from DPPI. Fuel milage has really dropped here since it has been cold...really cold. I understand idling has a big impact but how big of a drop do some of you guys notice with winter blend. I went from 16-17's hand calc to 12-13's. Big drop. I can almost watch the friggin gauge drop. But anyways back to my real Q...how often do you recommend using the stanadyne. I plan on everyother fill, but some guys use it every fill. I just dont really have that kind of money to burn using it every time. I think everyother will work just as good. What do you guys think?? Thanks! CHRIS:)

If you are filling up when it gets down to 1/2 a tank or so you could probably do just fine with every other fuel up. I kinda play it by ear. Also if its real cold I will throw some extra in, ifits warmer not so much. I have had a tank gell and its not fun. Royal PITA when your needing to plow snow with it and its sitting. Fill up at 1/2 a tank or so if you can and use places that do lotsa diesel volume(truck stop) and make sure you are running the blended(sometimes all they have is blended and they dont lable it.....sometimes they offer both blended and non) if Its going to be real cold(like teens or below) I wouldnt run bio either if you can help it.....I know you will probably be alright but bio dosnt help your diesels cold wether performance.
Keep a filter on hand and tools to change it and if it does start to gell(start running weak or throwing a code or both) dump some extra additive in there, fuel up from a known good station(if you think you may have gotten some **** fuel or non blended fuel) and dont shut your truck off if you can help it. It running will put heat into the fuel. Try to get fresh fuel in it. You may be able to just run it out of the truck and keep adding deccent fuel and lotsa additive. Should probably change the fuel filter soon when you get a chance too.

I use Stanadyne Performance Formula in every tank full. I buy it by the case on-line. Using the recommended dosage of 4 oz for every 15 gallons of diesel fuel costs me less than 8 cents per gallon of diesel fuel. Like doswacko said, it's cheap insurance.
