Any body know if the oil cooler lines are covered on the 5/100,000 mile warranty after your 3/36,000 is up?

The factory oil lines supplied by GM are not even designed to work. When I replaced mine with a set from www.lubespecialist.com (http://www.lubespecialist.com/) I opened up the old lines to see why they leak so often.

The tube has several Very Small grooves cut into it and ithe hose is then compressed into these grooves by the outer crimped covering. These Small groves are square cut and are not deep enough to make a long term seal when loaded by the crimping. At least with a hose clamp you can retighten them as the hose yields over time.

As for being warranted, a friend of mine asked GM if they would replace his lines before he lost an engine and they said no. However they did say that if the lines failed and he lost an engine they would replace the engine. A typical Bean Counter answer.

QM,

I had replaced one of the lines on mine, drivers side, afair. Later, a friend of mine suggested that I should have taken the leaking line off and take it to a shop that does work on hydraulic accessories, a shop repairing tractors could eventually help. They could eventually have put new tubing to the metal fitting at the end where it was leaking.

If you happen to know of such a shop, it might be worth asking. The new line cost afair about EUR 60.

The list of part numbers (ADA 1983-94; Blazer/Tahoe/Yukon 1992-98) I could aquire some weeks ago says:

Hose Outlet: 15696726 m #.5 31.50
Hose Inlet: 15696725 m #.5 31.50
Order by Application
#R&R Both .7

There's a small drawing with it; for what I can see, 'Hose Outlet' is passenger side, 'Hose Inlet' is drivers side.

If you need it, I put the page onto a scanner tomorrow at work and mail it to you. Just let me know.

You should be able to get a single line; mine probably came from Delco.
