I am looking to upgrade my stock exhaust to a 4" system with a free flowing muffler and no catalytic converter. In talking to a few folks I've learned that the MBRP system will drone or hum at 55 mph. What is a good alternative brand?

You could try the MBRP but run a resonator in the front pipe, that will keep it quieter or you could try the AFE system.
