Went to pick up my dmax donor truck and stoped off at the dyno on the stop home.
10th Annual Diesel Dyno Days in Boise. Mostly dodges but a couple dmaxes and fords and 1 6.5, yours truly.

Check out my signature to see what I have done.
Results were less thatn desirable, but first dyno run I couldn't get the throttle/shifting/torque converter lockup to cooperate to get the maximum possible values. Look at attacked chart.
I cannot interpret the results so maybe someone could chime in and help out.
During one of the other runs I peaked at 210hp during a shift, don't know if this counts or not, but I feel confident that I could have made 200hp with a few more trys.
Enjoy and we will see what happens when the dmax is in!!!

get good pics of the swap. Should be awesome.

you might want to try and find the dsh with all the gauges.

where did u find the truck?

Got the donor right here in Idaho, I will be installing a gauge panel from a 2002 diesel.

Thise don't look like bad numbers, especially at the rear wheels. Correct me if I am wrong, but the HP designation on the engine valve cover is flywheel HP. So in essence your matching at the rear wheels what GM did at the crank.

Am I correct in assuming that you don't get cooling air through the intercooler while your on the dyno? Maybe on the road your over the 200hp.

They had two large fans blowing on the front of the truck. And it takes a minute to heat up the intercooler. During the short bursts of power the intake air doesn't really have time to heat up. And my EGTs didn't go up much either. This truck takes time to build power not like the new ones where the power is on tap.

BB your numbers very close to my last run respectable numbers for the 6.5, Hey was that your truck in this months Diesel Power on the strip? unless you have squirrel cage blowing direcly into the IC you will not be getting max benefit from your IC.

Did you have a T2 installed controlling TCC lock up, what gear did you run the dyno in, those can have impact on dyno as well.

I have never had my truck on a strip before. I have a temp guage on the intake and have never seen the temp go over 180°F. I don't have a manual TCC lock up switch, and I was told to run in OD but the truck kept downshifting into 3rd. That is why I only have 1 printout for 4 trys.

3rd vs OD makes a slight difference in the numbers, in this post http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23677 ignore the scan they did not come out well

In this post http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10610 you can see where RJ ran with everything set up right including TCC lock up and picked up some more grunt on the dyno, dyno type & set up have a lot of influence on what you actually see, so 200Hp is very respectable IMO for the 6.5, as you have observed yourself, on the road they do much more than on the typical roller dyno snapshot run.

IAT when going for power colder is better, with my IC full flow max IAT is no more than 30 deg over ambient, so even in summer most I've seen is 135F
