Hello Knowledge pool, has anyone used EBC products and are they worth the money? I am starting to get brake squeeling at 74k, so its time to replace the brakes. Any info would be appreciated.....

I have used them on my motorcycles - they are nothing special.

For cars/trucks, I prefer performance friction or NAPA premium pads. If it's squeeling, it's probably the wear indicator - it's made to make noise when it's time to change the pads. If it isn't pulling or pulsing - I would just replace with a set of performance friction pads and not turn the rotors.

To beef up my brakes, I am thinking of going with the performance friction z-rated pads and replacing the brakes lines with stainless steel braided brake lines ( www.classictube.com ).

My brakes are mushy and I am always pumping them... I have flushed them and bled them - I think it is just cheap brake lines and maybe the pads will help too...

p.s. On edit - I checked performance friction's website and they only list a rear pad for the truck - and only the rear pad. I contacted them and asked if/when they would have the z-rated pad available. I also looked around and see that some here are using hawk pads.

02AlliMax,

Check out the Powerslot cyro'ed rotors and Hawk pads!! We have a lot of the members here using them and they are very happy etc. They will stop shorter, no fade and the cyro process eliminates warpage too. If you have any questions on them please call us.

I've heard many good things about these too. Right now, I dont have the money, but once I do, I definately plan on replacing mine.

If you cant afford aftermarket now, OEM are better than cheap aftermarket, by far.

I want a firmer pedal and more "feel" from my brakes. I have heard some hear describe the brake "feal" as "numb" or "mushy" or "spongey". I am thinking of swapping out the lines for firmer braided brake lines. Seems like this would help the most - but am wondering how much pads will help the issue. Those of you who have found better pads, does it fix 'em? Or do I also need to go with better brake lines? I will not replace the rotors at this time, I am just interested in experimenting with pads & brake lines.

Nothing special? When I switched to EBC calipers and pads with wave rotors and stainless lines I was able to drive about 10ft deeper before braking into turns at Texas World Speedway and dropped my lap times by almost 2 seconds. In my first race running them 2 seconds was the difference between 3rd and 4th place. Finishing in the money made all the difference. I think they're pretty special. :)

EBC makes good "stuff". I did EBC slotted and dimpled roters on my dads truck along with green stuff pads. He said they make a big difference since he tows all the time. I'm thinking about doing yellowstuff pads on my truck all the way around. I like that fact that they have a break in layer that allows the pad to adjust to the rotor before you stats to wear eather the rotor or the pad the wrong way...
