Hey guys,

I am leaving to go to school (Auburn University) in about 3 weeks. So this week if I can I am gonna change out every fluid and filter on the truck. I just wanted to run this by ya'll and see if this works and how often you change it. I am gonna change the front and rear diff fluid to amsoil 75w-90 gear lube, the transfer case and transmission fluid to Transdyn and the motor oil to Amsoil 15w-40. All filters will be baldwin except for the transmission. I am putting my change intervals below, please correct any of them.

Pre-oem Cat = 15,000 miles

Oem fuel filter = 15,000 miles(standyne added every fill up)

Oil+Oil filter = 5,000 miles

Transmission fluid + spin on = 15,000 miles

Front, rear diff + transfer case = 30,000 miles

All these fluids will be changed this week. Tell me what you think. Trying to get this stuff done before I head off to school . http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

The website for Transynd would be www.gmdieseltech.com (http://www.gmdieseltech.com) . That's Eric's site. You may want to look at the Allison Transmission website to see if there's a distributor close to you so shipping might not be as costly. Your intervals for oil, oil filter and trans filter look fairly conservative to me. Oil may or may not go longer but that would be found by spectrographic and ferrographic oil analysis, such as that offered by AVlube. The fuel filters may or may not go longer/shorter as they are dependant on fuel quality. You shouldn't really have to change trans fluid that often as transynd is supposed to be 100,000 mile fluid but the only thing that could hurt is the pocketbook for fluid and in any case your interval leans toward the conservative side. Shoot thru the DIY section and look thru Eric's maintenance intervals to see how they compare with yours.

Here's a link to the maintenance list post by Eric Merchant.

If you can't find what you need at gmdieseltech.com, call Eric, I'm sure he can get it for you. IIRC, Transynd is listed on his website.

Consider upping the oil change to 10,000 but do a filter change at 5000.
The transmission interval is very conservative. The transyd should go longer. Also, change the spin-on at 5000 if you want some added insurance. It's easy to change and cheap.
