On a little bit of a sideline (hopefully this isn't hijacking), what are the purported benifits of a Big Head Wastegate actuator?

According to Banks... http://www.bankspower.com/Tech_howturbowastegateworks.cfm

Just a little cleanup work on the exhaust side... you know me... mild porting and gasflowing LOL...but the compressor side is going to get a new secret squirrel wheel and cage.

This should help EGT's a bunch and hopefully not be so darn bark prone as the last boom boom turbos were...mind you, a recombinator or blowoff valve will be installed, probably governed by an oldskool HKS VPC (Vein Pressure Regulator)

But these things take time.... i won't expect my turbo to be ready until mid august

Then it will be go time!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif

Maybe I'm going off topic her a little, but what kind of results are you guys getting by installing the Big Head? I've been debating it but I haven't heard anybody rave about it on this forum.

Thankshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Do you guys think 25.6 psi is bad for my mods? I really dont wanna change it since its a bitch to do for me. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

I noticed a big improvement with the WGA. Cleaned up alot of the unburned fuel.

I ran my LB7 with 30lbs boost on stock turbo with no problems. Actually ran up to 43lbs to race once in a while. Have neat little way to do this if interested. Has same efect as big head but easier to install and remove and one can set desired boost

What a manual boost controller?

Also, is 25.6 psi enough or should I turn it up more?Edited by: dieselboostfreak

lly101,

OOC, What's your device for boost regulation?

i have heard on here several time that the bid head doesnt help hp or tq and was a waist of money so everytime i was goin to get one they talked me out of it

It helped the HP on mine. There is a very noticeable increase in performance from where my stock wastegate actuator held the PSI and where I have the Banks wastegate actuator set to. Even at 1/2 - 3/4 throttle, the boost will hold higher and burn more fuel.Edited by: Amric

Hey you guys - your edge/*** only shows 25.6psi and clips so truck only sees that much boost. So if you don't have another gauge you don't know how much boost you are realy running. Just something to think about. If you guys want I have those adjustable boost controlers just pm me and I'll set you up

Also you will see good hp gains it just depends how high you want to push your turbo. Will clean some smoke up to
