: Which is Better? Chip or Programmer
dmaxfan 07-26-2004, 02:51 PM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif I have an 04 lb7 duramax with a hypertech 3 stage programmer and so far it doesn't blow my skirt up. I can tell a little difference from stock or program modes. Don't get me wrong I have already outran a couple of cars. I got the programmer due to price, change tranny shift points and adjust tire size. Hypertech says not to tow any thing on it's claimed 96hp setting due to the exhaust. Is a chip better than a programmer and what is the best out of all? superchip, hypertech, banks, edge, etc. Edited by: dmaxfan
redneck45 07-26-2004, 04:13 PM I had a hypertech on my gasser and it made no difference what so ever! Needless to say I have the juice box on order for my dmax!
FulltimeRVer 07-26-2004, 04:15 PM I decided on using the edge product because I tow a 14K lb fifth wheel trailer. I am very pleased with the performance of this truck. And I only have the edge set on level 1!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
sixfoot 07-26-2004, 07:51 PM I just put the Juice on my truck and it is awsome!!! Easy installation and incredible power.
Amric 07-26-2004, 07:57 PM It depends on how important trouble codes, the speed limiter, and tire size adjustment is to you.
Victory Red 07-26-2004, 08:07 PM Personally myself I like the Predator for the diagnostics and I had borrowed a juice with an intent to buy, but that got sidetracked due to a tornado(and not enough insurance to cover the damage).
Anyhow out of the few mods I've tried, the juice was the nicest overall for daily drivability. It is next on my list of things to purchase when things straighten out again.
flhrciblueice 07-27-2004, 03:12 AM I have the edge for tuning and a quad 110 for tire size changes(when the stockers are worn out), dtc retrieval and erasure, and speed limiter removal. The juice works very well. I haven't even tried levels 4 or 5(attitude).
dmaxfan 07-27-2004, 09:04 AM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gifCool! Thanks guys your info really helped out. Where can I pick up info about the quad 110? How much does the Banks Waste gate help? If I were to get the edge, can I set it at level 5 without a tranny mod? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just new at diesels.Edited by: dmaxfan
BUCKSHOTjr 07-27-2004, 05:54 PM So what do I need to get for mine ??
I was thinking of the superchip but they tell me you can not change tire size. What about Hypertech is it any good and can you change tire size?
Maybe I just need to spend the money and buy the banks Six Gun Power Bundle almost $2000http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif?
HD-Nate 07-27-2004, 06:07 PM Go with the Edge/Attitude combo, you will not be disappointed.
The Attitude shows speed correction. The other programmers can change your speedo but will not correct the calculations for fuel mileage, usage, etc.
I have had and built many fast cars and trucks. The Edge/Attitude is the best bang for the buck I have ever spent.
Level 5 is more than your Allison will handle over the long run, so unless you plan a Suncoast type upgrade, best to keep the levels down. Although I have routinely run on Level 5 and will use when up against a worthy opponent.
See John at kenndydiesel.com for your Edge/Attitude combo.
No problems with 36k on the clock.

dmaxfan 07-29-2004, 02:41 PM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif I'll get one, but I have another 75000 miles to go before the warranty goes out.
HD-Nate 07-29-2004, 05:08 PM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif I'll get one, but I have another 75000 miles to go before the warranty goes out.
Why should that stop you? Best time to have it on is Under Warranty. Just remove it before you take it back to the dealer. A 10 minute job with the Edge/Juice/Attitude.
I've had one on since about 10k on the clock.

Bowtie Boy 08-01-2004, 10:21 AM I have an edge w/*** on my 03 dmax alli with a duramaximizer as well and it works great. I have never limped the trans but I am doing a full ATS upgrade soon. Gotta say I love my diesel.
P.S. I have almost 34,000 miles on the truck and have had the edge and duramaxizer on it for about 12,000.
