I read all the posts about having to either remove the fender liner and / or bending an a/c line out of the way, well I removed and replaced my stock filter in 15 minutes and did nothing other than disconnect the plug from the sensor, unscrewed filter, attached sensor screwed new one on and primmed. Why does anyone think removing the fender liner needed? There was zero interference getting the old filter out or new one in from a/c line or anything else. I cut the end off the filter and inspected it, looks like after 8000 miles there was about 50% of the filter dirty.

I haven't changed my filter yet but perhaps the LLY AC routing is different. On the LB7 either removing the fender shield or moving the ac lines or removing the battery is necessary.

I changed my LB7 at least a dozen times and did not have to move an AC line or remove the inner fender or battery.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif I have yet to do my LLY though.................

I almost removed my battery just so that I could get some leverage, but I finally broke it loose. New knuckle scar. That thing was on tighter than the stock oil filter.

Where can I find the instructions for replacing the fuel filter? How do you remove the sensor electrical wire from the bottom of the filter? It doesn't appear that the wire disconnects from the plug. Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I have the 2004.5 lly.
Thanks,
Reggie

There is a connector about 12" away from the filter. The rest of the instructions are in your owners manual. Just follow the wires from the fuel filter to the connector.

you can use them, but the LLY elements are longer.

I'm ready to do mine and I've checked it out. There seems to be plenty of room to remove the filter on my LLY without bending, removing or tweaking.

The guys who change the LLY filter without removing the Fender liners must be DOUBLE JOINTED or SKINNY as OLIVE-OIL!!!!
I am not scared to say that I tried the better part of 30 minutes to put it down from the top, getting down into place wasn't hard!!
KEEPING THE O-ring and Actually getting the threads to engage was my problem.. I have it easier than most anyway, we ahve a 15,000lb. 2-post lift in our shop at home!!!
Soooooooooooooooooooooo, It took maybe 2 min. to remove 6-7 of the fender clips and pull the liner back and 30 seconds to put the filter on and clip the plug...
Maybe everyoen else is extremely flexible and their filters keep the O-ring in perfect place, but for us 6-1, 300lb. boys the fender liner and 5 minutes of work is alot easier to ME!!!

EDIT: just as a side comment for those who SAY REMOVING THE LINER IS A PROBLEM, ya'll do know the clips are a 2-piece inner plug clip, you can use 2 screw drivers or a Hog-ring typoe set fo pliers to pull the inner PLUG and the outer plug simply PULLS out..
A friend yanked all his plugs out not knowing they are 2-piece with Inner Shanked/Slotted Locks..
Just a random tid-bit..Edited by: BigWill_21

I have a hoist as well and I still find it a lot faster changing it from the top. I know what you mean about getting the threads started but it is doable. Once you do it a couple times it is pretty easy.
