I know the book says watch the "vacumn gauge" on the filter housing and when it says change that is the time to do it.


I came from the school of every 10K was the best way.


I now have 25K and the little thingy still is on its seat, not even moved.


I couldn't take it, I changed the filter.


Question I guess is, DO I HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE LITTLE THINGY SAYS ITS TIME??????

Forget the thingy!! Good ol fashion way still applies here. Take it out and look at it, if its dirty, replace it. Thats still the best way

Eric, Have you ever seen a GM truck where the "thingy" works as advertised ? I have never seen one work on any of my trucks http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif. I have always done like you said and changed when it looked dirty.

The "thingy" on my 2000 Silverado 5.3 said it was time after about 10,000 miles. Many were on dirt roads... K&N filter was washed and oiled every oil change and it never activated the differential pressure indicator "thingy".
