This is something I am wondering about. Do the "mods" to these trucks escalate (sp) the problems with injectors and so on??

This is my second 3500 dually with the max in it. I pull medium size construction equipment, and materials. I regularly gross over 30 thousand pounds. I am running this one stock, just like the 02. Replaced the injectors at 54k and 92k on the 02. Now, the injectors are going out at 135k on the 04.

By the way, a friend has an 03 2500 Max with a Banks six gun, has 160k on it, and has had no problems with Max.

Yes, High performance mods do escalate injector problems. I change mine at 60,000 miles, normal life is 100,000 miles.

NO, there is no evidence that performance mods shorten the life of the injectors.

i agree....i still think that not even gm or bosh knows the answer.

I wouldn't know for sure but I would actually say they would. If you think about it, your putting more pressure through your injectors with most chips, why wouldn't it shorten the life of them. Not sure just my 2 cents.

My Bosch rep told me this exact thing tuesday.

i dont know if the pressure is what your gonna worry about i would say that there "should" be no effect. your putting more pressure on it but the cycles of open close should be almost identical. cylinders are making the same revolutions which means the injectors are open and closing the same number of times per revolution if i were to put a life expectancy on a item it would be dictated by the number of viable cycles or revolutions.but just my 2 cents and my 2 cents arent worth much since i live in my own little world

we checked pump presures with and without edge chip, and they were the same. i'm not sure but i think the edge all it's doing is advancing and retarding the time on the injectors.

If you use a chip that increases presure, yes it will be harder on the pump and injectors. If you use a chip that only alters timing and pulse width, no it won't be any different than stock.

I was under the impression that edge alters psi as most tuners do. I understand they change pulse and timing but I thought they changed psi too.

if you read enough posts on here you will see that at any mileage they have gone bad. some stock trucks much sooner than performance modded trucks

I've seen as soon as 30,000 miles for them being replaced, and as late as 120,000 miles. I'm just saying that the average life for them is 100,000 miles

Try less than 1000 miles...I was only on my 3rd tank of fuel, 100% stock truck down to the tires...

Ok, my new range is between 1000 miles and 120,000 miles, happy?
